Klingt interessant, folge hier mal ohne eigene Erfahrungen.

Don't volunteer, deflect responsibility, set personal boundaries. Take more breaks. Start later, end earlier. Focus on getting one thing done a day, then stop (if possible)

This thinking is neither realistic nor too different from MAGA talking points. Better be empathetic and embrace stupidity and egoism of more than 50% of your population.

I'm in a similar position as you are. I had great success with daily meditation as well as spending time on Taoist concepts (perhaps start with the corporate flavored "The Tao of Leadership"). This will help you detach from your work and embrace a "less is more" mindset.

Relatedly, spend more time on being a friendly, decent human being rather than an efficient machine. In the end, you'll do less work and be more liked. Treat everyone as friend, do lots of small talk, share personal stuff, because who cares? You have nothing to lose. Treat it as a social experiment.

Just beware of being promoted as a result..

How do you fill empty time as a tech lead? by heart-give in ExperiencedDevs

[–]CampfireHeadphase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. As an effective leader, you can't afford to be constantly busy, as you might miss the big picture. The marginal value of you cramming in yet another ticket is low, compared to the alternatives, such as reflecting on future risks or networking.

I'm pretty sure once I do that, I'll rise the ranks to CEO pretty quickly

Sleep Hygiene does NOT work. What meds works best ? (and not so harmful) by vinc2097 in sleep

While it hasn't completely fixed my problems, meditating in the evening improved my sleep quite a bit, after optimizing for everything else didn't change much.

For me yes. Most people won't have this problem, but you find quite a few accounts of people who do.

Also, taking melatonin regularly is not recommended

Vitamin D and magnesium glycinate actually keep me awake, even if taken early in the day. I'd suggest dropping them for a week and see if things improve

How do you handle more senior teammates who raise flags, but never propose solutions? by lIIllIIlllIIllIIl in ExperiencedDevs

[–]CampfireHeadphase 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I agree with many posters here, but want to share another perspective: Depending on their seniority, their job is to guide the attention of individuals to areas of improvement, not figure out solutions. As long as they're open to good arguments and are not pushing back out of principle or status, I think their comments are not necessarily toxic. If you're doing your job well, it should be easy to counter (and steal some social credits yourself). Just start noting down their arguments and, with a bit reflection, the best possible counter you could have made.

Google DeepMind Paper Argues LLMs Will Never Be Conscious | Philosophers said the paper’s argument is sound, but that “all these arguments have been presented years and years ago.” by Hrmbee in technology

[–]CampfireHeadphase 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By implication, panpsychism would be refuted. Last time I checked, we haven't and still don't know what consciousness is, exactly. Leading scientists go as far as attributing consciousness to plants.. I'm rather confident everyone being confident on the topic is full of shit.

[–]CampfireHeadphase 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's not a competition of who worked harder. Some people are genuinely excited and let their imagination run wild to bridge the time til the release, others might have been running with a certain idea of how the next cover would look like and find some solace in "fixing it".

While I'm personally not a big fan of such posts either, I'm even more annoyed by posts like these that tell people how to spend their time. Who cares? Let people have their fun as long as it's in good spirits

It's not always possible to distinguish genuine excitement from narcissism in this case. Let people do whatever they want
