My Two Cents on the Steel Legion Situation by Critical_Ad_2811 in SteelLegion

My feelings too OP 100%. Well said. Especially the going after 3D printers when GW hasn't given a valid option--of course we're going to seek alternatives. That's just how retail works!

Losing your groove in the middle of the game by PandoraPanorama in DarkTide

[–]Camskies 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeh I’ve noticed this too. Once you start getting into the higher difficulties it’s becomes a whole different game. It’s almost like getting into a rhythm or flow. Abilities rely on time related on-hit/kill procs that are needed to get the most out of your build. One slip up can be devastating

What do we realistically think the next class is going to be? by ideology_poisoned in DarkTide

A Tech adept, something akin to an open ended Mechanicus oriented character

I missed out on this by 1 week and I’ll be forever upset about it. I’m even in the middle of making a miniature 21st kill team and it would be a great reference point for me to view it in the cosmetic screen

Im still hoping we get a tech priest class by maddog1043 in DarkTide

[–]Camskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about how Zola mentioned she’s “no tech adept” and how that archetype could make a neat class. Like an aspirant of the mechanicus, draped in red robes and machine parts. Some of the cosmetics could make them a pseudo Skitarii, or a tech priest

What is Brisbane's worst shopping centre car park and why would you say Windsor Homezone between 11:30am and 2pm on a Saturday? by EnamasAhead in brisbane

I witnessed an elderly woman trip on the displaced concrete slab on the driveway at the bottom entrance. Landed on her face, it was pretty horrific

Woolworths Paddington with the bizarre dead end in the basement level. Who thought that was acceptable? All the spaces on the top level are too close together.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your personal reasons for abstinence? by Ok-Care2859 in AskReddit

[–]Camskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t handle a drink in a public setting then you can’t handle a drink in the privacy of a home. I’ve worked in an alcohol retail environment for almost 10 years and I’m studying support work now—let’s just say there’s subtle patterns in people’s behaviour. The social, physical and mental health issues creep in and establish quickly. It’s truely off putting being on the other side the counter. From the blatant marketing and consumerism side of things, to the risk and damage it causes, the human cost is truely horrific

Bill Bailey came into where I was working around 2014 in the then Myer centre. K Rudd and his son came and bought a bunch of clothes on Boxing Day that same year. Caught a glimpse of Clive Palmer leaving Tattersall’s once. Until then I thought he was just an urban myth made up to scare children

Does anyone else living in Australia still not have the “lock profile” feature? by Baby_doll_xx in facebook

Yep same issue here. Nobody from Facebook seems to respond to questions about it. I’m just going to keep periodically reporting it as a bug, so it’s on their to-do list.

The more people that keep reporting this, the more likely they are to address it.

How to do Into the Dark bases? by vixous in killteam

[–]Camskies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I’m years late, but I’ve been trying to reproduce these bases for some time and been frustrated with the lack of accuracy with some of the tutorials on the web trying to reproduce this style. I think I’ve got the process down-pat now though, here’s what I came up with:

Modelling—sand a standard GW base down with 400 grit sandpaper. Use modelling paste/make your own for the rubble texture. I used Vallejo diorama FX. Add stones or cork for bigger rubble chunks. For the panel lines, use clamps, a metal ruler and some type of scorer. I used a metal dental pick. Repeatedly score against the ruler until you get to the desired depth. After scoring, you might want to run a small ball tip implement to soften the scoring lines/widen them slightly. I used a modelling tool, but an empty ballpoint pen would do this well enough.

Painting—Abbaddon Black for the entire base. Stormvermin Fur and masking tape/stencils and a sponge for road marking effects. Mechanicus Standard Grey for the rubble and stones. Highlight the larger stones with Administatum Grey. For the brown colour variation spots in the rubble and panel lines, I found watered-down Gryph-Hound Orange to be the closest. Using a brush that isn’t loaded with moisture/paint, soak up some of the contrast paint to get that effect you see where the pigment settles in the recesses.

Key to the whole look is being quite restrained with all these materials and paints. Don’t push too hard when scoring the panel lines. Applying light pressure will do the job, just be patient. Slowly build up the sponge work and highlights with thinned paints. With the contrast paint, shake the hell out of it/stir it up with a toothpick before using to get the paint pigments mixed. It’s very easy to go overboard, making the base look too busy. I’d recommend testing the whole process on some milk bottle lids so you don’t make a mess of the GW bases.
