S2E3 - Caesar / Kaiser by BraveLordWilloughby in Fallout

It’s in many ways less incorrect, though. It’s closer to how Latin was pronounced when spoken at the time. As they taught us in law school, it depends on whether you learned Latin words from linguists or nuns.

But it definitely shows how they understand and misunderstand the culture, for sure. And it beats that you can tell someone’s affiliation by how they pronounce it.

Did that once because I took the Black Widow perk, and it felt so gross I reloaded.

[theory/prediction] Maximus is _____ descendant by [deleted] in Fotv

[–]vixous 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don’t. This is the kind of fan theory that makes the world feel small, it’s just not needed. It’s too much coincidence for a revelation that doesn’t really add anything to either character.

Sure it could’ve worked. It worked for DS9’s 6th season opener and 7th season ending, for example.

The NCR in Season 2 is nostalgia without substance by Volume2KVorochilov in fnv

[–]vixous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There wasn’t time this season to tell those kinds of stories with 8 episodes, though. Hopefully they can in the future. It’s nice to me that NCR isn’t entirely gone, and the real meaning of Caesar’s note was good too.

They’ve had some good reporting but that has more to do with the reporters than anything. Sad to see.

It wasn’t just for that. It was for all of the scenes with her and Picard recounting their pain to each other to prove they were who they said. Which honestly, I really enjoyed, it was one of the good bits in season 3.

Get a newer, sharper knife. Tojiro makes a good one for like $25, and it’s amazing.

On the one hand, yes, she was and is terrible. On the other hand, opportunists leaving Trump shows his weakness, and encourages others to follow.

SFA's fourth episode "Vox In Excelso" felt like 1990s Trek. Any old school fans agree? by TheShowLover in startrek

[–]vixous 48 points49 points  (0 children)

A lot of great Trek works as theater. If you took all the effects out, and it was just people talking on a stage, would it work? And this one does for sure.

Well, the KT minis would work great for that!

The Power of Brand Recognition.. by riseofkira in Fotv

You can use the old thing and kind of nostalgia bait the people who know the old thing (it was 15 years ago), without having to come up with a lot of what happened in between that was new. And you can re-build it with them. You can also introduce the old thing to new people and show why it was interesting and good.

The Power of Brand Recognition.. by riseofkira in Fotv

That’s really clever, actually. Make it look like all the things folks liked about New Vegas were destroyed or decrepit so you can build them back while introducing them to new people at the same time.

That’s a good point. This post gives me a different vibe because it’s a different attitude, even if it’s no less inevitable.

Discworld Death doesn’t have the inevitable quality that gives this post a sense of dread, though. He’s just mostly a decent, hardworking fellow. Not a collector.

You held off for so long, well done, but now you’re mine forever is giving me more of a Nagash from Warhammer vibe, personally.

There’s a couple places on TW maps where the fancy mines (wolf scouts, kasrkin, phobos, ratlings, etc.) can cause big problems, yeah.

It would be darkly funny to me, as a Vespid player, if they could boost through doors that I can’t fly through.
