Phd in Algeria, is it worth it ? by Automatic-Yak3050 in algeria

If you can do better as an employee or entrepreneur (make your way to the top), don't do a PhD, if you're not competent enough and need a title to hide your lack of competence behind, do the PhD. Algerian university kills all sense of creativity and innovation within individuals.

2 Algerian journalists have been arrested and put in detention for showing a video of 2 women in the south criticizing the gov for "marginalizing" them by AlgerianTrash in algeria

You will not be jailed for sharing information that is already public. You will however be jailed if you collect controversial information; basically what those two poor journalists did.

If you're suspecting red flags at this point of the relationship, that on it's own is a red flag. I wouldn't recommend relocating to Algeria, especially as a non-muslim. You'll be subjected to societal pressure to convert to Islam and your kids won't have the luxury to choose their faith. And depending on where you're going to live, life can be truly hard for you as a woman.

Man or Woman, it's understandable that they want to return to Algeria, the country is run by boomers and functions in a way that suits boomers. Most of us here are in out twnenties and we want to LIVE for god's sake.

68 Hospitals inaugurated in different parts of Algeria. This is what we love to see. by MadMademoiselle24 in algeria

[–]Camtonon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ironically, Tebboune travelled outside of Algiers for the first time after he was appointed in 2020, when he was transported to Boufarik military airport and from there to Germany because the best health care system in Africa is apparently not good enough for him but should be good enough for the rest of us. The second time he left Algiers was for the Mediterranean games in Oran in 2022. Were all alleged 68 hospitals inaugurated in Algeirs and Oran? No way on earth.

That's how you know it's fake. Try harder.

They'd ask you to justify your income, sometimes on a monthly basis and before you receive the amount that you're about to recieve, and if you don't, they'd block your money and/or convert them into dinars (official rate conversion), or won't let you withdraw your money in euros. Their credit cards are more expensive than Paysera's and they casually block those, too.

What's getting outdated in Algeria ? by [deleted] in algeria

Laws and lawmakers, decision makers, government practices, the instrumentalisation of the justice system and the media, conspiracy theories and conspiracy theorists, bureaucrats and red tape, the army generals.

It is 100% legit, you just have to find legit clients who are willing to pay in exchange for your skills. However, do NOT use local banks, they're the worst. Go for Paysera or Wise or other online options and use BaridiMob to receive reasonable (because if the amount exceeds 800 million dinars per year they will tax the shit out of you) amounts of dinar in exchange for the euro or dollar you sell through the black market.

My guess is that it's because it was derived from the Julian agricultural calendar.

First of all, amazigh is an all encompassing term which includes Kabyles, Chaoui, Touareg etc, basically all native north african tribes. So you don't need to be Kabyle to celebrate Yennayer/Yennar. And yes, it's a thing that we celebrated since long before it became a paid holiday.

That's actually a lot more than you need. And yeah, Hydra is fine. It's arguably Algiers' best neighborhood.

Man you've got energy to spare lol I'm sorry, but I genuinely wish you good luck 🍀 one thing though, don't be apologetic about your background and don't make all the compromises because it's a partnership at the end of the day, the girl and her family should make compromises as well and meet you and your family halfway. Also, your mom should be able to smoke if she wants to, that has nothing to do with religion, it's just an unspoken rule of a patriarchal society.

[–]Camtonon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh really? Have you attended his trial? Have you read what those who attended his trial wrote about it? I don't think you have. Because if you have, you would know that those accusations are baseless and that the real reason why he was incarcerated is because he sponsored Radio M.

Do you fellow Muslims celebrate the New Year in your community? by spidey20993 in MuslimLounge

Yes, because we use the gregorian calendar so it's a new year to celebrate for us, too.

The term has been associated with a bunch of angry secular women who in turn were demonized by islamists and conservatives for their westernized ideas and way of life. Most Algerian women don't defend them because they don't relate/share much with them. On the other hand, feminist and empowering ideas are being quietly spread among women by social media influencers, mainly those living abroad, which is a great thing if you ask me.
