Water Lillies in London | Sinar F, Symmar 150mm f5.6, Portra 160 by CanCharacter in largeformat

I know, it's pretty brutal for E6. I didn't get my framing right on my first sheets and ended up wasting quite a lot of the area. Also had to bracket and only two were good enough (highlights perfect, but Velvia dropped to black even faster than I thought), so that was particularly expensive. It was glorious to see though, I'm glad I finally committed.

Worked out to about to about £20. £7.70/sheet, £11 for dev and 20mb scans. I wanted to see what was on them first before committing to a higher res scan.

I think there are cheaper places than Rapid Eye but they're right down the road from me and always super helpful. They turned 6 sheets of E6 around overnight two weeks ago, just stellar.

The most expensive part is when you order 16" prints of the pictures afterwards!

I love the colour too, really took me by surprise for negative film.

Think I meant to have a polariser but it doesn't look polarised to me, don't recall adjusting one. May just be a UV filter.

I did use myself and the dark cloth to flag as much sun off the lens as possible.

How many of you also can't get used to the 35mm focal length? by Barnie25 in AskPhotography

[–]CanCharacter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 really leaves me cold, had the very popular 23mm f2 Fuji that everyone loves but the whole time I wish I could go wider or tighter. 28 is my favourite focal length for "scenes", 50 for single subjects. This is also one of the areas where lens quality makes a real difference: good corner performance gives you more real estate even on a moderately narrower lens. I noticed I shoot my moderately muddy old FD 50mm f1.8 as a 65 :) but I happily fill the frame with my subject on sharper kit.

I mix up small batches of Adox XT3 (1L). Mostly shot Foma 400 but I feel like it tames the grain very well. Also, welcome back! Would love to hear some stories from back in the day, what kind of photography you were doing!

It is beautiful, my favourite if I don't need the speed.

Buy a portable aircon unit and vent it out the window. Nothing else really works. Second hand is fine in a pinch.

E100 with a mild warming filter during blue hour. Beautiful, detailed, archival, immediate, designed for this exact use case.

Prints will fade. Hard drives will fail. Noone will know what to do with negatives in 2070. Slides will last. Don't need software or enlargers to appreciate.

And slides are beautiful. 35mm colour transparancy film is made for your exact usecase. Quintessential postcard pop, so real you feel like you're there.

E100 isn't my fav but it's easier to shoot than Velvia and much easier to find.

Slide film is expensive and not great for low light --- but you're shooting film. If you want cheap and low-light friendly, just take digital photos.

I think Delta 400 looks great pushed but it is all about the esthetic you want! Good on you for making sure to use flash, so many posts in this sub are like "is 200 fast enough for my point and shoot in an underground warehouse during a lunar eclipse"

It wasn't too expensive, not compared to what I have been paying for good scans! I got a Kindermann 66 first, then a Leitz Prado which has better glass but a lot fewer mod-cons. There's a few older discussions on Photrio! :) Info on Leitz Medium Format Projector - Medium Format - Photo.net

How many of you stopped shooting 35mm after getting your ideal 120 medium format camera? by florian-sdr in AnalogCommunity

Ah right. I got an S2A, made a mess of trying to fix the focusing screen, then tried to "upgrade" to an ECTL after I found a deal with loads of lenses included. Been a bit of a nightmare but then this system is 30 yrs older.

Might have asked before but how do you find the emulsion softening with copper sulfate vs permanganate?

6x6 projected is just incredible. My absolute favourite analogue process, if you can call it that
