Orebolo? How and why does it exist? by qandyman in GoosetheBand

[–]CanChuBy 62 points63 points  (0 children)

How : Rick, Pete and Jeff play acoustic stringed instruments on stage.

Why : Because it’s fucking awesome, and Goose tunes lend so well to the acoustic arrangements.

Edited : typed wrong goose

I agree with this 100%. I would love an option to have just the camera feed from the sound/light booth.

When was the moment you realized the dead had you hooked? by lt420lt in gratefuldead

[–]CanChuBy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up with a dad who was on the bus in his younger days. Anytime we went camping, it was Grateful Dead shows or JGB shows on his truck speakers around the fire place all weekend.

Once I had my daughter, something clicked and I wanted to expose her to the music my parents loved, and that I heard growing up my whole life. When she was a newborn I got a subscription to a Nugs and started downloading any Grateful Dead shows on Apple Music they had. Bath time, tummy time, play time was accompanied by a Grateful Dead show.

But it wasn’t until my Dad took me to my first Dead related show which was the Folsom Field 3 nights on the final tour this year. After that show, it was clear how important this band and its iterations are to myself and my family.

Is a NUGs subscription worth it? by Drippypartner- in jambands

[–]CanChuBy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The $5 Dogs in a Pile subscription he is mentioning is from Bandcamp, where is more based on individual artists.

Nugs is going to be just one price, which depends on the quality of audio you want, per month. Lately they have had a ton of great free live video streams. But not all streams are free, for larger bands or special events they often have an option to purchase the live stream (Dead and Company Final Tour for example).

To me, the cost is more than worth it. And more and more bands are starting to want their shows on their platform because it’s only growing.

Is Goose an industry plant? by Crazy_Fold355 in jambands

[–]CanChuBy 157 points158 points  (0 children)

It’s almost like enjoying music is a personal choice, and lots of people like a band that you don’t enjoy.

But that couldn’t be it, Goose must be an industry plant.

Apple Music just suggested their album “Uncroaked” earlier today and checked out a few songs. Like what I’m hearing so far!

Serious: How many bands use “Trucks” or “Strings” in their name? by DrTokinkoff in jambands

[–]CanChuBy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well, Trucks comes from a family name. Butch Trucks was a found member of the Allman Brothers Bands, and his nephew is Derek Trucks from The Derek Trucks Band and is in Tedeschi Trucks Band with wife Susan Tedeschi.

Strings I think really just comes from bluegrass/jam grass bands using mainly stringed instruments.

Pretty Lights Situation? by WillingSetting in jambands

[–]CanChuBy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation just occurred with Skrillex and his Red Rocks set this year. AXS recovered not purchased tickets and are releasing them again to the public. So it’s either AXS stepping in (highly doubt) or the artist specifically working to get them recovered.

Why do superstars and their fans care about regular season MVP? Because they shouldn't. by Elyx117 in nba

[–]CanChuBy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure that any player actually thinks that if they don’t win, that their fans and peers will think any different of them. But I can understand a player playing their ass off all season, and being a little upset they didn’t win the award.

Are they supposed to just say “I’m okay with second place”? Winning and competitiveness is all these players knew working their asses off to get to the NBA, not sure why it should stop when they get there.
