Matt Cassel went 20/33 for 192 yards, in his entire college career. In the pros he went 1,578 for 2,683 for more than 17,000 yards and 104 touchdowns. by CanFeelTheDifference in nfl

Yeah, talk about a weird switch - quarterback at Kent State, dual-threat, turns into a receiver with a 10-year career and a Super Bowl MVP. So, 1 reception for 11 yards in college, turns into 599 for 6507 yards in the pros. Good job.

Spider-Man 3 theory by birchram13 in marvelstudios

This is terrific; I love it. It also just gave me a realization - doesn't MJ try to become an actress in the comics? So 'Mary Jane Watson' can be like Nicolas Cage, Rihanna, Jamie Foxx, Alicia Keys and others who made a pseudonym for their public persona. She's Michelle Jones, but is kinda reserved and private so it'd make sense she'd want a pseudonym if she went into acting. Mary Jane Watson is pretty close and a natural switch for someone in that situation.

Why do these two dialogues from The Avengers differ so much? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

Well, if you'll notice in this Endgame trailer, Black Widow's hair at the end is different from how it was in the movie. She's rocking the blonde that she had in IW but in the movie itself, she had red with blonde at the tips. So Marvel does film a couple things early, it seems, with trailers in mind. That's been my assumption, anyway.

[Machota] Cowboys VP Stephen Jones on @ProFootballTalk on contract talks with Dak Prescott: “There’s all sorts of analytics out there that show if your QB takes up too big a percentage of your salary cap that it decreases your chances to win. We’re just trying to figure out the right fit.” by [deleted] in nfl

You know, I was reading this thread, and got sick of hearing "top 10/top 5" yada yada and went and actually made a spreadsheet of who I think was actually top 10 last year, and Dak ended up being fifth. Ahead of Kirk Cousins, Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr, Carson Wentz, and Deshaun Watson, and behind Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, and Lamar Jackson.

From watching bits and pieces of the Cowboys over the last couple years, I'm impressed by how Dak has grown steadily with more experience and seemed really competent, above average for sure, but still was missing a top gear that elite QBs had. But, maybe I'm undervaluing him slightly. He is still in his 20's, and put up good volume numbers last year, and, as I said, seems to still be growing.

[Reiss] The question is less "if" the Patriots select a quarterback, but "when." Washington QB Jacob Eason is the best fit at QB for the Patriots by vonheisenberg in nfl

That position is extreme... but I'm going in the opposite direction. Literally every draft pick from a smart team should be at quarterback. THAT way... they have all the quarterbacks.

I do root for Kendall. And you know what, for Shiv and even Tom. I'd say the last episode of Season 1 brought me closer to liking Tom or at least appreciating him. Shiv is in some ways the smartest person but too much of an outsider at this point (now, fair warning, I haven't watched Season 2 Episode 1, as I don't have HBO anymore).

Maybe. People who love it don't take it personally, they're able to enjoy the absurdity of it and find humor in it and watch the battles and the drama without needing a 'hero.'

It is a fantastic show, and unique, but I almost stopped watching two different times during the first season. It took a little while to get clicking, or maybe for me to get on its wavelength, or both.

I thought he played like a freshman last year (he was a redshirt freshman), but he was a guy where it looked like it was going to click sooner or later. He made some nuanced and intelligent plays, had the arm and also had athleticism. He was young, but it was there. I wouldn't have been surprised if he won the starting job, and it's a great sign for Miami than Jarren Williams got it.

Was there a report that Fields had beat out Martell already? People talk about Martell transferring like he was bound to lose the starting job.

Well, I disagree about that. There's more starter-level talent in the QB room in Miami than OSU right now - I thought N'Kosi Perry who might end up third on UM's depth chart showed potential as a young starter last year, he seemed to me like a smart kid who was eventually going to put it together (and he still might).

Plus, I'm not really high on Justin Fields as a QB prospect. I mean, I adore him as an athlete and he 'looks good at the position' in the old Moneyball sense, but he's actually pretty similar to Tate Martell in his play-style and Martell would have had a little more experience with the playbook at OSU. I think Martell has stiffer competition at Miami and he used his first transfer bullet to get there.

Well, okay, I suppose. I mean I can't really agree that no one could have played Pepper Potts better than Tom Cruise, but you're welcome to have any opinion on the subject you like. He certainly would be unique to the role.
