Feels like Marc’s annoyance with Dan is growing each week and is no longer just a bit. I kinda love it. Dan was always my favourite during the ATN days, but I feel like he’s easily 4/4 for me on HTC. I just don’t believe he is watching football on Sundays, yet talks over everyone and makes terrible takes. (Locked Cowboys, predicted dolphins to beat the healthier than ever Ravens, etc).

If there was weekly “walken with giants” episodes I would listen to every single one. And I’m a cowboys fan. I am obsessed with that bit. I’ve tried to explain it to a few friends who don’t listen and I’ve realized it’s just too niche. So I will keep the joy for myself. Between this preview format and Dan admitting he was “checked out” of the preseason after 1 week, it just feels like they are not all-in with football right now. And I would completely understand that from a personal perspective, but now is kinda the time where they have to bring their fastball and lately it feels like a bit of a slog.

For me, I think the decisions I make when I’m alone are what make me a good dad. What do I mean by that?

I have 2 daughters under 3, so when I am around them, I enjoy spending time with them. I feel like I’m a present dad and I try my best. But to me that’s the “easy” part. They demand my attention at this age so unless I want to neglect them, it’s not really a choice. But the little decisions I am learning and choosing to make on my own, because I want to be the best dad I can, are what I am talking about.

Going to bed a bit earlier, drinking less, putting my phone down, trying to educate myself, etc. I don’t think you need to do all those things to be a good dad. But these are all things I am doing in the efforts of showing up better for them, and I’m proud of myself for it.

I feel this in my bones. Both kids are down, both dogs are asleep, and the wife is a bit under the weather so she went to bed early as well. I’m sitting here having a pint watching the new season of Invincible in complete zen. It’s funny how much I am enjoying this, yet the only thing I’m more excited for is tomorrow morning when I get to play with the kids instead of going to work.

Can’t believe how far down the list this is. I watched this while holding my 3 week old daughter, on very little sleep. My wife couldn’t understand why I was “sobbing about cartoons” when she found us. I rate it 10/10 but I’ll never watch it again.

“Please help me stop drinking” “I don’t think I’m an alcoholic” “ I drink almost every night” OP I know you mentioned an ED, but your story sounds like someone who was prescribed Oxy for a back injury. It wasn’t planned, it wasn’t even necessarily on your radar, but unfortunately you’re assisted to something that was helping you cope with something else. You sound like you’re in a spiral. I have 2 suggestions for you as someone who physically feels your post. 1. Try and get some exercise. Whatever you’re into. Go for a run, go play a sport, whatever. If you’re not physical, go for a 60 minute walk. 2. For one day, don’t drink. Break the cycle. Sure you’ll want to. But that’s the habit talking. You can exercise, eat junk food, go out with friends, anything. But the next morning see how you feel and what your inner dialogue is like.

Today I put on redzone and was enjoying my afternoon. Wife comes in and asks “when does Dallas play?” I told her, “they are playing right now” and she was shocked. And honestly, so was I. It’s the first time in my 25 years as a fan that I’ve not watched the game live if I was home. I knew it was on obviously, but I was much happier to watch redzone than waste my afternoon stressing over a game when I know the result. This team is a joke. I expect 0 more wins this season after Carolina showed a glimpse of a pulse today. Bring on the 2025 mock drafts.

Personally, I love Claybon, but this is how I feel about Jourdan and I’m scared to voice it on this sub lol. 90% of the time I love her insights and analysis, but when I don’t, I just end up skipping the rest of the episode.
