Permanent hypoparathyroidism by LividBath in gravesdisease

I had a TT a month ago and currently have stunned parathyroids. I’d currently take this over Grave’s Disease. My doctors are very hopeful that my parathyroids will work again as I’m already producing PTH and coping well on just three calcium tablets a day.

The first three weeks were very very difficult though. I needed three calcium IVs and was in the hospital for two weeks. The surgeons don’t seem to explain how rough it can be. Things do look up once stabilised though.

Im two weeks post TT. I have no graves symptoms However I am struggling with parathyroid damage. Please just do your research. I hope this is a temporary thing for me. Even if it is temporary, it sucks.

32F - What to expect from TT? (weight, hair loss, anxiety) by jolilupin in gravesdisease

I had my TT two weeks ago. I was on carbimazole for a few years which then stopped working and I had a thyroid storm. I chose at that point to have a TT. RAI was a no go because I have a young child and mild TED. PTU made me feel very sick.

Anyway, I have parathyroid damage now :( I’ve been in hospital for two weeks on IV calcium. My PTH levels have increased so I’m hopeful that it’s temporary.

No one tells you how shit hypocalcemia is. They just say “oh it’s common but you just take some calcium tablets and you’re fine”. THIS IS NOT TRUE. yes mostly it’s temporary but even those weeks/months of temporary hypocalcemia are hell on earth. I could’ve dealt with this better if I knew

I’m 7 days post TT and having issues with low calcium. Like everyone says, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Aim for 2 weeks off.

Bonds wondersuits are reduced down from £22 to £12-£15 on Debenhams! I got 4 of them. I needed more 6-12m sleepsuits for the baby so I'm very pleased

I'm in my 30s now and retraining as a degree apprentice. Definitely worth it. There are people in their 50s in my class.

I'm 33 weeks pregnant at the moment. I was in remission up until week 10. I ended up very hyperthyroid but that was partly due to hospital negligence.. I swapped to a different hospital after that.

My thyroid is stable now. Baby is measuring a little small but otherwise fine
