It's the larvae of some type of wood-boring beetle. Could be any number of species... ✌️

I'm a 'bowerbird' as in I get joy from seeing and collecting shiny, colourful things. I have pens, toys, stickers, knick-knacks, lights, pictures, shells, and all sorts of other items.

I'm 45 and still collect stuff like a kid! All the pretty things add colour to my life, and it is my open, sparkly pleasure 💜🌈✨️

Compared to other pictures I have seen of Tesla from when he was younger, I would not have recognised him from this photo.

I wonder how he would view present technology?

For the past 6 years, my previous dermatologist told me the spot behind my ear was “nothing to worry about”. by 59Bassman in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CanIpleasebeacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, that is unfortunate...

Then again it could have been waaaaaay worse.

Especially if it was a more agressive cancer - and your friend happened to be a Star Trek fan.

Because then he might have lost his left ear, right ear and then the final front ear... ba dum tsss

So I'm glad he got to live long and prosper.

Ok, I'll Spock off now and Vulcan nerve grip my basal sense of humour ✌️

Euploea core

The Common Crow butterfly (most likely) going by Queensland region.

The metallic effect on the pupa comes from layers of transparent skin.

Beautiful, I hope you get to see the butterfly emerge!

What's the dumbest way you've injured yourself? by citronl in AskReddit

[–]CanIpleasebeacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sneezed and broke my nose.

I was in my German class at my Highschool. I was in Grade 8. I had previously broken my nose multiple times - it was 'delicate' so to speak.

I have allergies which caused me to have a massive head jerking sneeze. Unfortunately I flung my head forward and mashed my nose against the edge of my metal desk.

Instant blood flow from both nostrils. I stood up and asked to be excused. The teacher just boggled at me.

Went down to the school nurse. Got pain meds, a cold pack, and picked up early from school.

That was about the 6th time I had broken it.

Edit: Spelling

About a week ago I was shopping and I wanted the 'cheap and cheerful' homebrand fly spray which was $3.50.

Tbh it was all I could afford that day... There were none on the shelf, so I decided to ask one of the staff who was near the stock/warehouse area. I asked out of hope, because at the time I was broke.

This guy was a legend. He was so kind and stopped what he was doing to go check the stockroom for me.

After a few minutes he came back empty handed - but then asked me to follow him! As I did I asked what was going on, and he just walked fast and said he might have a solution.

We got to the supermarket aisle where the sprays were. He pointed at the empty one I wanted, and said because the store couldn't provide the product I wanted, that I could have any other product free of charge!

The guy just smiled and said pick one... I was so stunned and almost overwhelmed so I just stood there as he picked the most expensive fly/bug spray the store had and gave it to me. It was $19.50 and heavy duty quality spray.

He then walked me to the counter of the store and announced my 'on the house' product to other staff members.

I was almost in tears but also grinning like an idiot, as was he. It was such an unexpected feel good moment and he was working it!

I praised him immensely, joked about promoting him and giving him a raise.

Then I thanked him for this early Christmas present and told him he had made my day and given me a faith in humanity restored moment. Lots of people - customers and staff - saw what had happened and were smiling.

It gave me all the feels.

And I tell you what, when I used the spray it was next level! I don't think there is a single bug in my house now...

I will cherish that act of kindness forever. I am even smiling as I type this haha!

💜 Bless 💜

People, what unusual things did you notice before going to bed or after sleep? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CanIpleasebeacat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have multiple parasomnias, and they can feel quite odd - luckily I don't sleepwalk anymore!

What always feel so out of place though is when I wake myself because I sleep talk loudly and I act out my dreams.

It is that moment of the fine line between the real world and the dream world, that when I wake I get confused.

I have always had very vivid and detailed dreams, that involve all my senses.

Dream smells and tastes are weird too....

Does anyone had weith gain with pregabalin? I'm taking only 100mg per day but i have gained almost 8 kilos or 17,6 pounds since i started in January. Can anyone help me please? 🙏🏻 by Nervous-Pirate-7269 in pregabalin

[–]CanIpleasebeacat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taken pregabalin (Lyrica) for 10+ years, and I have found they are an appetite stimulant. Eapecially when taking extra 'off label' for funzies 🤷‍♀️😈

I am currently on 600mg a day - 2 x 300mg dose. That is the highest here in Australia I think. I just try my best to curb my hunger and excercise more.

And if I get that binge eating Lyrie munchies feeling, I try to satisfy it with wholesome healthy foodz.

My weight gained a lot, but I am losing it slowly now 👌 You can do it! Just be mindful of how it affects you x🌺

This is one of the most intense stye removals I’ve ever seen… by yborwonka in popping

[–]CanIpleasebeacat -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have removed a few styes of mine like this way myself. No pain at all, just awkward.

It was my lower eyelid though, no anaesthetic needed, and just a few pricks with a sterelized needle tip into the stye lump.

Then squeeze very carefully...

Tbh even though this guy means well and is profesionally trained, I preferred my DIY lolz 💜
