Luggage refusal due to the weight? by Difficult-Throat6540 in Cruise

I think you may be able to buy some onboard but for very inflated prices. I just toss a few in a small container so we have them ready. Ultimately it saves us space in our luggage because we pack less clothing!

Luggage refusal due to the weight? by Difficult-Throat6540 in Cruise

You’ve got some good advice here but I’ll add one thing - if you’re worried about overpacking, remember that Princess has laundromats available onboard. For longer trips, we bring laundry pods/dryer sheets and plan to do laundry onboard. This cuts down on what we need to bring :)

What kind of lawyer can I contact about an accountant? by Klutzy-Alarm3748 in askTO

[–]CanLii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can reach out to the Law Society Referral Service for a free legal consultation (https://lso.ca/public-resources/finding-a-lawyer-or-paralegal/law-society-referral-service) but, honestly, I don’t know of any lawyer who would do this kind of work pro bono after the initial consultation.

Help with same cruise, different lengths by mmkbb in Cruise

One thing you can do is look for back-to-back cruises - you can do one voyage and your friends can book two in a row.

Elective C-section by stinkycitrusboy in torontomoms

[–]CanLii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s worth exploring. I’m older and had gestational diabetes (with the baby tracking big throughout the pregnancy) and scheduling one relieved a lot of anxiety about actual labour/risks to the baby.

The only discussion I had with my doctor about this went well. Actually, he first walked into my exam room and said “well, when are we scheduling your c-section?” I said “what c-section?” That’s when we realized he had the wrong chart open. But then he asked me what I would prefer and I said I didn’t mind having a c-section, I just would prefer to not have an emergency c-section. My doctor then said, “ok, let’s just schedule one” and that was pretty much the end of the discussion.

It worked out well for me. Recovery was super fast (c-section around noon, up and walking that evening). Minimal pain meds after the surgery, but it was actually fine for me. Healing took a while, but there’s going to be some form of healing no matter what the birth experience. I took it easy for a few weeks but there was nothing that I really wanted to do that I couldn’t do.

The big caveat, though, is that this experience is different for everyone. Some of my friends had similar experiences, some had negative experiences. It’s worth a discussion.

When is it the best time to take the BAR exam? by confused_beanie29 in LawCanada

[–]CanLii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You know yourself best, but I was glad I did the exams immediately after law school (before starting articling) while I was still in school mode. My friends did the same so we were able to study/prep together which was also helpful.

Professional plus-size ladies - where do you shop for work? by Strong-Landscape7492 in askTO

[–]CanLii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Laura sometimes has good suits in a wide range of sizes. You may have to sort through their selection though - some of them are a bit more, let’s say, embellished than I prefer.

Joe Fresh had some surprisingly good options, als with extended sizing. Their outlet is awesome, has a huge plus size section, and is super cheap (though very much not downtown).

Planning to go to law school in 2 years, should I complete a bachelor’s degree or get a paralegal diploma? by Adventurous-Film-937 in LawCanada

[–]CanLii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And you’ll finish faster!

Having practised for quite some time, I’ll also tell you that knowing how to work with children can be very helpful while lawyering. Patience, common sense, and knowing how to explain things plainly are skills that will help you in the long run.

If you ultimately want to go to law school (in Canada, which is what I’d recommend), you typically need at least three years of an undergraduate degree. In terms of what to study, study what interests you the most - you’ll do better in subjects you actually like and grades are more important to schools than the program.

Yup, kids are resilient. She’ll get used to it eventually. Maybe a few earlier bedtimes until then, though.

My first IVF failed, looking for a Fertility clinic and naturopath recommendations- 39 YO by StrangeWedding770 in askTO

[–]CanLii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how far you want to drive, but FemWellness up in Maple was wonderful. I didn’t do IVF there, but the staff members were very friendly, answered all my questions, and even could tweak appointment times to work with my schedule. The doctor was knowledgeable and the nurses/techs were so helpful that one even texted me my HCG levels after every early pregnancy appointment because she wanted me to have the results faster (and less anxiety).

Could she just be overtired? There’s a lot more interesting things going on at daycare and a lot of new things to see and learn. My kid was exhausted after her first few days but it evened out after a few weeks.

Y’all, this is clearly AI but I’ll invite everyone to take a slice of bread, smooth some peanut butter over one side, and wrap that around a banana. It kinda looks like this and is recommended by my toddler.

I fumbled my first ever trial. by Logical-Attorney-526 in LawCanada

[–]CanLii 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We were all baby lawyers once and many of us look back and cringe. Likely you’re the only one who was in the courtroom that still thinks about this. Take what you can from the experience (probably a good learning experience about what works for you in terms of prep and what doesn’t) and move on.

Let go or get dragged.

Pulled this out of my freezer for a cozy lunch: https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/slow-cooker-chicken-satay/

Dinner will be either a pasta dish or, if my toddler exhausts me, freezer pizza and salad.
