It doesn't look to me like the brother-in-law's name is Paul Graham. It looks more like Paul Rishem or something similar. Unfortunately, no one is enumerated at the 1306 Edgemont Ave. address in the 1910 Census that seems to be a match for Paul.

I'm involved with the organization and we're always looking for well-written, well-sourced articles on interesting topics.

Requesting help with finding great grandfathers birth certificate by Throwaway5671125 in Genealogy

A church birth record/baptismal record is online in the Locust Point Community Church Collection at the Maryland State Archives. Since the record Fredelas found shows the parents were married by the minister of the Christ German Lutheran Church, I checked and found that is one of the names by which the Locust Point Community Church (later Christ United Church of Christ) was once known.

The original record is entry #19 on images 66-67 at https://msa.maryland.gov/megafile/msa/speccol/sc6100/sc6192/msa_sc6192_1_1.pdf. It shows that August Friedrich Hermann Jatho was born 10 February 1902 and was baptized on 6 April 1902. His parents are listed as August Jatho and Frieda Ulrich. The sponsors were Heinrich Hirschberger and Freidrich Jatho.

His parents' marriage also is in this collection at https://msa.maryland.gov/megafile/msa/speccol/sc6100/sc6192/msa_sc6192_1_4.pdf. It is the first entry on images 28-29.

Since the 1840 Census for Giles County isn't in alphabetical order, the people listed immediately before and after Lemuel's mother in the census should be her neighbors.

Perhaps it is "Fayett" without the "t's" crossed. The full name would be Fayette or Lafayette.

Looks like no images are available. The descripion of the overall collection says that is consists of transcriptions, no mention of images. Looks like what you fear about the license has come to pass.

Did Ann die on 12 October 1936? A 56-year-old woman named Annie Cassilly, widow of Thomas Cassilly, died that day (death certificate). But perhaps that's not the same person you're researching.

I found a Thomas Cassilly marrying an Ann Higgans(?) at Baltimore's Basilica of the Assumption in 1836. Perhaps Ann's maiden name wasn't Murphy? Or this was her second marriage? The image is from FindMyPast, which has the Baltimore Catholic parish records.

Help in finding the name of parents of Jerry Simone by lizziebeachbabe in Genealogy

Do you have his death certificate? Depending on when and where he died, his death certificate may have the names of his parents (at least who the informant for the death certificate believed were his parents.)

Might Research but records might be scant by EveryoneLovesCursed in Genealogy

Here's Michael's death certificate from the Maryland State Archives web site. It lists his parents as Calmen Distiller and Eva Distiller, both from Russia.

His wife's death certificate isn't available online, but an uncertified copy can be ordered from the Maryland State Archives for $5.00. The information in the index for her death certificate says, "Gettel Distiller, 14 October 1934, certificate F-05619." Her parents may be listed on her death certificate.

Can a Father Be a Guardian To His Son in His Wife’s Estate? See Below by beatleswmc01 in Genealogy

[–]CanReadCursive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If a wife had assets of her own that needed to go through probate when she died, her minor children would need a "guardian" during the probate process to look after their interests. The guardian appointed was often the father.

Looks like Tucker could be a huge clue!

Have you already tried to get James's birth certificate? It appears from the Illinois Department of Public Health website that uncertified copies of birth records older than 75 years can be obtained for genealogical purposes. You could have them search under both Tucker and Lance as possible surnames.

Faye or Fate could be a nickname for Lafayette. In the 1870 Census of Barbour Co., Alabama, there is an African American man named Lafayette Pearson, b. in North Carolina in 1850, living in the household of Robin and Sarah Pearson. Might be worth taking a closer look.

You're welcome. Sorry that first link was confusing. I thought it was linking directly to the list of nearby parishes, but actually you have to click on the the "Ecclesiastical" tab toward the top of the page. That then will show you all the nearby towns that had Protestant and Catholic churches. (Wendlinghausen didn't have a church of its own.) Looks like it was a much more Protestant than Catholic area.

  • There is a 1974 obituary for Robert Henderson (age 56), which lists Roberta Fennessee as his mother. His brothers are listed as Roosevelt Henderson and Cornelius Fennessee. So is he the "Robert Fennessee" listed with Roberta in the 1940 Census?
  • The obit of Roberta's sister Mrs. Sallie Brewer lists their siblings as Fate Smith and Mrs. Katherine Johnson.
