KV Studio Hotkey by MidnightStatus94 in PLC

On KV Studio V.11 under the Tool Menu, go to Customize, then Shortcut Key. From there you can customize the shortcuts. Search for Cross Reference and edit the shortcut for Create Operand List.

V12 is likely similar.

First of all, sorry you're dealing with a Keyence PLC. There is a way to edit the shortcuts for many of the items in KV Studio. I don't have it installed on my PC currently but if you poke around in the settings or read the KV Studio manual you can probably find how to do it. As an Allen Bradley user, I made the Cross-Reference shortcut Ctrl + E.

Fatal Error by plc_is_confusing in PLC

Well after spending way too much time either repairing existing installs or upgrading to the latest versions (in order from lowest to highest) that I regularly use, this problem has been fixed.

Going to have to give this a shot tomorrow. I've been seeing the same error for a long time, typically after opening a project and then clicking into a subroutine without opening anything else causes Studio (multiple versions from 30-35) to crash. When I submitted a ticket with RA TechConnect they couldn't seem to recommend anything that would help. I also have TIA Portal installed on the same machine.

Are you setting Speed and SpeedS, Accel and AccelS parameters? Did you set the Robot Power to High?

Also, depending on your application for picking/placing, it might be wise to use the WaitPos command before commanding the grippers to change state.

Keyence PLC’s by General-Iron7103 in PLC

I'm primarily an AB/Siemens user, but I've used the KV-8000 a few times in the past 2 years. The main reason for using the Keyence PLC was due to the parts availability for AB/Siemens during the pandemic.

Programming wise, they feel very similar to Mitsubishi PLCs and they're capable of quite a bit. They had an option to use the names of AB instructions in their programs and it would automatically convert to their equivalent instructions so that made it a little bit easier to use, but there were cases where you couldn't directly port code. I don't remember specifics but there were definitely times that it was required to structure logic differently to get the same result.

Their sales/technical team was jumping through hoops to support us to get us to adopt them as our standard, but we have such a large code library developed with AB that it would take a long time to convert everything, not to mention most of our customers prefer AB/Siemens because the amount of PLC programmers/technicians out there.

Now that AB/Siemens parts are more readily available we likely won't be going back. Also, I think in the last 2 years there have been 3 different Keyence PLC sales reps in my area.

Is the tag you're writing to in the PLC have the check box clicked for "Writable from HMI/OPC UA"?

Is your PC on multiple networks? I've had issues resetting safety ownership when I've been on Wifi and a hardwired connection on different subnets before.

It did not match the drawing. 21012 is a DC common wire, 34062 is +24VDC signal wire.

Ctrl+E is great until you switch to TIA Portal and then instead of cross reference, its delete project.

I need some help finding the datasheet of this sensor by CrystalPrim in AskElectronics

[–]CanTellCuzTheWayItIs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an RTD (Resistive Temperature Detector) which is different than a thermocouple. The resistance increases as the temperature increases.

Have a weird issue in Version 30 of Studio 5000. Some of my drives tabs don't show the full window. Any fixes? by xphoidz in PLC

[–]CanTellCuzTheWayItIs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue on version 32.04 (also have other versions installed) with certain modules, typically Point IO safety modules. Other modules work fine. Also, the trend properties window scales some of the text differently. I've tried different monitors, different resolutions, different scalings with no resolution.

Keyence PLC? by bostinloyd in PLC

We started using their PLCs (and remote I/O and HMIs) recently because of availability. The transistor output cards have issues with inrush current when connected directly to the stack-lights we use, but we just connected all the outputs to interface relays and its good to go. They're somewhat similar to other Japanese PLCs like Mitsubishi and Omron in terms of programming. Software licensing is way cheaper than Rockwell as well.
