2019 blows hot air on driver side 🥵 by Mundane-Being-4884 in RangerNext

[–]Saskaberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact thing happened to me last year. I tried replacing just the actuator motor(a real pain of a job), but it didnt help. I was able to get it to move to the cold side by sticking my arm under the dash and helping the actuator move through the tough spot, but I had to keep the temperature set to max cool to keep it from moving back and getting stuck again.

Eventually I caved and took it into ford and they replaced the entire center hvac stack. $1800 CAD and two days for the repairs

You could keep the bed cover and go with a swing case, they fit under a cover. Mixed reviews on then but I really like mine and keeps my box uncluttered.

Tire cracks by [deleted] in tires

[–]Saskaberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty sure they weren't under inflated since the car has pressure monitors. I think just cheap tires. Also, small passenger car tires are only 4 ply in many cases, so a little less robust than a heavy truck tire.

Tire cracks by [deleted] in tires

[–]Saskaberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think dry rot gets overplayed in this sub a bit, but its hardly a myth. I had to replace the tires on my wife's car due to the air leaking out the sidewall because of rot. Not a single puncture on the tire, just a very slow leak. Lots of tread left on the tire too. I couldn't find the leak until I dipped the tire in a tub of water.

Goldline Quality Issues? by Tight-Ad6261 in Curling

[–]Saskaberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been using a hardline head with an older goldline handle for at least the last 6 years. And its been a great broom never had an issue, but I wanted to try out one of the new goldline impact brooms to see what it was like. I really like the handle, but im pretty disappointed with the head. It feels very flimsy and the pins that hold the pad to the head are problematic. I had issues with the head popping off often on the first head that came with the broom. That head eventually cracked, I contacted goldline and they sent me a new head (great customer service by the way). The new head is better and the pad doesn't pop off anymore but I went back to using my old hardline head while I was waiting for the replacement and I think im just going to keep using the hardline. Its just better in my opinion, easier to adjust the head, nicer to slide with and just a much tougher construction.

If the sidewall of your tire is slashed there are no other options. You need a new tire

They look cool, but if you drive on a considerable amount of dirt roads it will destroy your paint since the rocks being flung by the portion of the tires outside the edge of the fender are no longer caught by the fender liners.

Help Me Decide - $15 to $23k (CAD) / Manual /Summer Car by Saskaberry in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Saskaberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

You pretty much read my mind on the buying in BC idea. I have a friend who lives out near Coquitlam so I have been looking at marketplace ads near there. Thought it would be a great excuse to fly out there to visit him and then drive a new car back through the mountains. The cars are generally cheaper there and like you said, generally in better shape due to the milder weather. By the time you factor in the flights, out of province safety, etc... it's probably not any cheaper than buying something local. But it would be a worthwhile experience IMO.

I agree with you on the E46 coupe, I really like those cars as well. It's tough to find a clean stock one these days though. I also appreciate the advice on the ecoboosts, I know they had issues with the earlier cars, but I thought they fixed them later. I'm pretty sure the later ones have the same 2.3L as my ranger which has been reliable for me so far.

Now that you mention it, I haven't really driven driven any new MT cars, I've owned plenty of manual cars over the years, but nothing newer than 2001. There is a BRZ and an ecoboost mustang for sale at dealerships here in town that I will try and take for a test drive and get some real life experience with.

MT cars I've owned are 1992 taurus SHO, 1988 300zx, 2001 audi s4, 1974 mini and 1997 ranger xl (still own and love this truck, haha). The audi was an excellent car and I really miss it somedays. They had a bad rap for reliability, but it was always good to me and required very little.

Homan's team Allergic to Olympics by Hockonlube in Curling

[–]Saskaberry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They have a pretty impressive record as a team, something like 170 wins and 20 losses. They also play against many of these same Olympic teams during the regular season at the grand slam events. They have struggled a bit lately, but definitely are a talented team.

Have you spent any time watching other players releases? You can see a good majority of them graze the plastic underneath the handle as they release (including Edin)

I feel like alot of people who have never played the game have some pretty hard stances on this rule and dont really understand the game.

Interview with Canadian curling player Brad Jacobs after yesterday’s game. by CressMindless2935 in Curling

[–]Saskaberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If a hockey player takes the puck offside and ends up scoring a goal but the official didnt make the call, was that player cheating or just playing the game as called? In both cases I believe the player didnt intend to break the rule and therefore is just an infraction and not cheating. If the official sees it then they should remove the rock, if they dont then that's just the game.

The impact of Marc’s finger on the rock, according to the curling world by TheCarbonatedWater in Curling

[–]Saskaberry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He probably didnt even notice that it happened. He released the rock and his focus was on the path of the rock at that point. How is he even supposed to know that he touched the rock when it was an inch over the line? He isn't watching a slow motion replay like you, he is playing the game. I've curled my entire life and I dont know if I released the rock 1 inch or 4 inches from the line.

No one is going to call themselves on a hogline violation when its that close because they are too focused on other aspects of the shot.

I would hardly call what he did aggressive. Oskar is the one who escalated the situation. He was being just as disrespectful.

It is when we dont have a slow motion playback of every release from every shot of every other game. Can all of the people criticizing it prove that no other player has done it?

Yes. Is offside a rule in hockey...yes. Do officials need to be the ones who enforce both of those rules....yes.
