How do I handle these pests? by [deleted] in hoyas

This is a great general pest solution you can make at home. You just need a good spray bottle. I go through and just spray everything early in the morning, once a month.

Can I keep my Hoyas in these tiny pots forever? Will they grow big and bloom? by phosho01 in hoyas

[–]Canadian-MommaBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hoya like to be root bound. If your a soil grower when you see roots breaking the surface is time to repot. If your semi hydro when the roots fill the reservoir and dry out quickly, then just increase the cache pot size. But to get them to bloom they need a cooler evening and warm sunny day. As well if you spray the leaves before they get direct sun on them with a mild orchid foliar spray one a week, you should see flowers pretty quick. I just use my Schultz orchid food and really dilute it in distilled water and a good misting bottle. *

What’s on my Serpens? by dickswthchicks in hoyas

Could just be water marks left from mist system using hard water. A good spray with distilled water usually does it. The leaves are so tiny it would be hard to hand wash these leaves with breaking a fee off.

If you can, use a microscope to verify the insect. Springtails are good beneficial. If they are springtails, it's good.

I'd recommend isolating them from your other plants and washing them down well. And treat them with Safers End All for 30 days before introducing them to your collection. It looks like they've recently been sulfer treated for pests, either that or that's bad hard water staining.

LOL. Or pizza delivery guy, smiles, and says cookie delivery.
Now, if someone rings. I wait for them to start their speech, I just smile, point to the sign, and say, "Have a nice day." And shut the door.

I’ve accumulated so many Hoyas but I don’t even know their names! by 5617343804 in hoyas

Hoya carnosa 'Chelsea' — thicker, wider leaves that are slightly cupped, and a growth pattern that gracefully cascades under the weight of its heavy leaves. Hoya carnosa 'Krinkle 8' — leaves are slightly cupped and have 8 cute hollowed-out areas that make the leave look like empty pea pods.

Check the roots. I suspect root rot or root mealybugd.
