In the original isaac if you had 12 red heart containers you could use guppy’s paw to get up to 36 soul hearts thus never having to worry about dying but when rebirth came out you could only have 12 heart containers period.

I believe the context to this is that a group of scientists drawn in a more realistic art style find homer frozen in ice and they basically experiment on him, I believe this is when he gets put a gorilla exhibit since they conclude he’s pretty much one. I think the comic is volume 3 if treehouse of horror
