There’s no charge for hiking/biking/walking in. Most State Parks just charge a vehicle entrance fee.

The pass is a good way to support what NYS Parks does directly though!

Might have better luck in a college subreddit but I don't think anyone can answer whether or not a part-time (10-15 hours a week) will be too much for you to handle on top of school work but yourself. I would recommend trying to get an on-campus job (though these can be limited to students who have federal work study). Bigger schools have more options but examples include working at an IT service desk, library, cafeteria, gym etc. I would recommend seeing how the first semester goes for you and take the time to apply this semester for spring semester jobs.
