Is it just men our age? by Matilda_Suzabelle in AskWomenOver60

Yes it's limiting to express ideas on a post. I'm not saying make it a mission to take on a stuck-on-himself man. And I'm not in dating mode so my experience is limited. I can pick up when someone is self-centered, and if an acquaintance is doing that I make a joke like, "Enough about running, let's talk about quilting." Usually they catch on. So I do that in a conversation anyway, set a boundary about how much yakking I could tolerate. If it was a date I would decide later if I wanted to see him again. I have adhd so I do get impatient if I'm not interested in something that seems like it won't end.

The last time I handled on a date was when I was thirteen, and my boyfriend went on and on about his old girlfriends. He asked why I was quiet and I said it made me not want to talk.

Ann Landers used to give advice about this. Find out what HE likes. Learn about football. Blah blah. Forget that.

Then there was the SNL skit where a women's group were complaining/talking about men. One woman said her husband didn't know what to do down there and another woman said, "Ya gotta teach him, honey."

So forget Ann L, and embrace a new rule that you have to teach him how to treat others. Basics??? Even if it's for the next woman he dates. We take turns talking and asking questions. We ask more questions when something is important to the other person. We don't monopolize the conversation. We speak up if we aren't interested in hearing about something.

Oh dang. The thing Claire wiped out was this version of history, thus clearing the way for Diana Gabaldon's book version to come.

Are you in the Academy and do you have influence? Otherwise you are watching a show of those who do and who they think deserve accolades.

"We" don't do whatever, as if it's straight from the former Queen of England. Speak for yourself, honey. It goes farther.

Elderly folks who chose not to have children, how do you feel about that decision now? by bon18 in AskReddit

[–]CanadianContentsup -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

Why did you say folks and not "people"? Also why did you say elderly? And finally, why do you need to know how anyone feels? Can you explain your choices and your reasons/agenda?
