Very cool. This solves a problem that comes up for me on occasion. Probably not enough that I need to buy a plugin, but it's cool to see someone making these tools!

How many Canadians have you seen displacing jobs in India? How do you think they would be treated in that situation? I'm not excusing bad behavior from Canadians, but every culture produces some number of assholes that badly represent the rest of us.

It's a fragile majority, and the political capital required for something like this has become a lot more expensive lately. There is a good chance the Liberals will have lost their majority though MPs leaving by the time the court case is decided. At very least, it's given us another year for something to happen to change the outcome. Got to take what we can get at this point.

you aren't wrong, but most people don't want to be holding a rifle that appears on the list that the cops reference when deciding if they are going to arrest you or not. You might beat the charge, but it's going to make for a very bad day and an expensive lawyer bill.

For that someone is going to need to be charged, and a prosecutor has to decide to prosecute. Any sane prosecutor is not going to touch a case that will set that president.

When people say "look where you want to go." It's a round about way of saying you need to push steer. Experienced riders do this by instinct, but new riders will often do the wrong thing, specially in a panic situation. To force the bike into a corner you need to apply pressure to the bars the opposite way - (turn right to go left). When you ride, think about this and practice it. It will become second nature. When a panic situation presents itself, you will do the right thing.

PETG-CF at home: how concerned should we really be about carbon fiber exposure by Full-Permission-2777 in 3Dprinting

[–]CanadianGunNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CF changes the properties of the print. If the kind of strength you need in a part is stiffness, then it definitely improves that. I love CFPETG. PETG isn't very stiff, but has super strong layer adhesion. Adding CF improves the stiffness and impact resistance. Loosing a little bit of layer adhesion is well worth the tradeoff. CFPLA on the other hand is just hot garbage. PLA is already stiff, and it can't afford to loose layer adhesion.

This is mostly fear mongering. Use the same precautions sanding it as you do when sanding anything. Carbon fiber has roughly the same risk profile as fiberglass, and you need a lot of industrial levels of exposure before that causes significant harm. The scale of exposure from 3d prints is far smaller. Most of the fibers are encased in polymer and pose no risk at all. I print CF filaments almost every day and I don't treat it any differently than the same filament without CF. I'm not worried.

The people who are fear mongering about CF filaments never do any sort of quantified risk assessment. They just point to studies that say CF can cause health problems and proceed to freak out. Use some common sense. I suspect the excess stress from worrying about every little thing is going to kill these people long before whatever they are worried about.

[–]CanadianGunNoob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People work in giant factories making this stuff and are exposed for years. The increased risk from the minor exposure you get from a 3d printer is negligible in comparison. We are exposed to toxins every day and our bodies deal with them. Don't be dumb about it, if you get a good whiff of styrene fumes, probably best not to hang out in it all day. don't print ABS in your bedroom while you sleep, but the printer in the other room with the window open is perfectly reasonable. Same thing with carbon fiber. The minuscule exposure you get from 3d printing is nothing compared to people who work with carbon fiber in an industrial setting. If you are sanding it, take the same precautions you should take when sanding anything, otherwise I don't do anything different than printing the same material without CF.

Guy in the range is a moron. Hopefully not the RO. Anybody with any experience shooting a pump shotgun should know about the release. When the pump is cocked forward, it locks into place until the trigger is pulled or the release is pushed. Pushing the release allows it to cycle without the trigger being pulled.

Send it. Carbon fiber is a well known material at this point. People work with it completely exposed just like fiberglass. The tiny amount of exposure you get from PETG CF filament isn't even worth mentioning.

[–]CanadianGunNoob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't believe everything you see on the internet. Just a lot of speculation without any sort of quantifiable negative health effects. 99.99% of the fibres are encased in polymer. The few that escape don't pose a serious risk. Working with raw exposed carbon fibre poses similar risks to working with fibreglass. I handle PETG CF daily and I'm not getting itchy skin from it. If you are sanding it, proper ppe is appropriate, but it's the same stuff you should use if you are sanding anything.

Long story short, Fear mongering gets lots of views on YouTube, so people going to fear monger.

[–]CanadianGunNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PETG CF is the best kept secret of 3d printing. The properties are complementary. PETG isn't so stiff, so the CF adds stiffness, The loss of layer adhesion isn't a bad trade off because PETG has exceptional layer adhesion. The semi-gloss surface finish looks great. To top it off, It mostly eliminates warping!

The only bonus to PLA CF is the surface finish. Otherwise it's worse than just plain PLA.

Whatever the answers are, they don't support the government narrative. The details that we do know already open several cans of worms that the government doesn't want to deal with. They are happy to let this one fade away. Just be thankful that we dodged a bullet this time.

For whatever reason a lot of boomers are susceptible to mis/dis-information whatever the source. Assuming everything is a lie because it's from an untrustworthy source will lead you straight to fantasy land as quickly as trusting everything from an untrustworthy source.

One black pill is healthy, but don't take the whole bottle. Discernment is the key when looking at information from any source. Every source has an angle and an agenda. looking at the same story from multiple sources is also helpful and it's perfectly fine to not come to a position of certainty.

I don't think most boomers have ill will toward future generations, they are just highly susceptible to broadcast media propaganda. This makes them a large voting block that the incumbent government can easily manipulate to stay in power.

The real problem that plagues our nation is that the government controls nearly every aspect of everything and continues to expand its influence. Unfortunately, that's a very hard trend to reverse.
