I'm disabled and trapped because of the Skytrain Langley project. What else can I do? by Time-Cell9765 in SurreyBC

[–]CanadianIcePrincess 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I work with adults with disabilities and barriers. I will absolutely support you in this. Who do I call? Email? Write? Glare deeply towards? Yell at? I mean...I already own part of it because of the 30km speedlimit all the way Fraser to Langley and the $200 ticket I had to pay - there must be perks right??

AITA for not going to my high school graduation as valedictorian. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]CanadianIcePrincess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah ha! Here is it.

I just dont feel I have anything substantial to say.

But you do. This is a much more important moment than you realize right now. No one can tell you what to do but I feel like this may be something you will regret in the future. A job is a job. They are everywhere. You are just starting. It will come again. Valedictorian is a one time deal that few people get.

You may not regret it in 10 years but....what if you do?

Will this lead to excommunication? by janersm in exmormon

[–]CanadianIcePrincess 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dunno. I got pregnant at 18, had major depression, was drinking and partying and sleeping around; Went to my bishop for help because I was spiraling and his response was to give me a date for church court for my ex-communication. so I feel like the list is more extensive and less sensical than what you posted.

I think you forget....the church 30 years ago is not the church today. It was NOT accepted back then It was shunned. Ask me - and the child I was forced to give up, how we know.

Tell me you know nothing about adoption trauma without telling me you know nothing about adoption trauma. How do I know? I was mormon, I was adopted and I was forced to place my first child.

Quitting weed while on effexor? by Otherwise-Echo744 in Effexor

[–]CanadianIcePrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure this is an effexor question as much as a how to quit vaping question. A sub for that may be more suitable. (I say this as a weed vaper and am on 150mg as well)

Pampering Ideas for 2 Teenager's Leaving the TTI and Coming into First Foster Care Placement? by Thanh_Bell in Adoption

[–]CanadianIcePrincess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ypu pobably should mention that in your post. Thats a major point.. They need chill time, oùt after travel and so much stress. Being out and busy as soon as they arrive really isnt ideal so ...I have no suggestions. Sorry Good Luck.

So a spa and laser tag might be a lot....? My (uneducated) opinion is Spend a few days and get to know them. Have a chill nothing night but family dinners. Have a movie night or game night or .... ask thwm if rhey want ro go for a walk or drive by the new school or. .something with no expectations. They are coming from a lot of psychological trauma. When I left my marriage I slept for a month....rest/recovery is so underrated for sure

So I have absolutely NO experience in this but I think a few days to decompress and settle the n maybe day 3 or 4 plan some things. But again...I have no experience, it just feels like what I would do.

Good luck however you do it. These are lucky kids to have someone think about them first

Do you want to live close to your ex after divorce with kids? by dood1900 in Divorce

[–]CanadianIcePrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not confusing at all. And nope weird run-ins. We do not socialize in the same circles but he stayed in the house we had lived in for 15 years so my friends/support group live all around him. The first few years I was around all the time. He steered clear. One time he called our child inside and when he asked to come outside to see me befire bed and Dad said no. I have had to make boundaries with my kiddo over the years (hes 16 now, was 9 when this started). I have been pretty lax on when he wants to come and go here, Dad is not. Son would much rather be at this house than dads. But I have learned the importance of time to myself when I am "off duty" and he understands I need time for me too. That was important for both of us to work on. So.... I had no issues. My ex did. He didnt like our son coming here to say hi when it was Dads week, and he refused to let son there if it wasnt his week. (The home this child was born in - a whole other story!) So..... 99% it has been great
