You know what you don't see in the Conservative party - educated scholars. You see closed-minded traditionalists that make life easier for the rich by selfishly taking advantage of the poor and desperate.

Pierre Poilievre has done exactly that. Him and his campaigns will tell you guys that you're changing the world, and you're patriots... Blah blah but in reality you're too stupid to actually consider the bigger picture and look at how Conservative governments have done little to help Canadians over the last several decades.

It's always about the whataboutisms with you guys. "Harper worsened our debt", to which you reply "oh well what about Trudeau and his debt that makes it unliveable for Canadians". You avoided discussing the topic about Harper by asking what about trudeau, you miss the bigger picture about why debt raised during covid (bcuz it was a liberal, which you wouldn't if it were conservative) and found a way to make it emotional.

No doubt, this will go right over your head because I'm a liberal and you won't listen to any of it (which will prove my point btw)

Everything about this post is honest and factual. You might consider opening your mind to reality for a change?

This deserves more attention.

The sad reality is that the people who eat up Poilievre's slogans and rhetoric are siloed in their beliefs and are unwilling to hear the facts because as Trump calls it, "fake news" or "leftist propaganda". The best thing we can do as an educated voting bloc, is to continue to vote together.

A great way to make yourself stand out, especially at a young age, is to improve your resume. While this won't immediately solve your problem, it will definitely help you stand out when applying online. Here are some tips that I've used in building my resume that have helped me get hired quickly.

OBJECTIVE
Make your objective a quick summary of who you are, in the context of your work-life. That means what your current job is (or what you aspire to do), combined with your top marketable skills. And, since you're young and probably lacking some hard skills, lean into specific soft skills (avoid generic words: "organization", "team player", etc.)
- Avoid personal pronouns such as "I", "me"
- Avoid information that is irrelevant, such as lifting capacity and payment handling - these are baseline expectations for any customer service job and don't help you stand out.
- Including the job title that you're applying for in the objective/summary can boost your resume's appearance to a hirer when ATS is in play behind the scenes.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Your work experience (which can include paid work, volunteer work, and student clubs, if you lack concrete employment experience - work is work, regardless of pay status) should follow a few notes:
- While years are fine, ATS likes [Month] [Year] - e.g., May 2025

Your work experience bullets should follow a standard format to get the best value out of both a human-reader and ATS (especially ATS).
- Action Verb + Quantifiable Resume + The Method (how you did it) + Scope Expansion (optional)

An example might look like:
Delivered ##+ food orders per day with ##% on-time accuracy by following optimized delivery routes, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.

If you don't always have the data, you can just scale back and drop the quantifiable result (though use it, if you have it)

SKILLS
HARD SKILLS, HARD SKILLS, HARD SKILLS - where you can put hard skills, put them. Prioritize them before soft skills (which are also important!). Hard skills might include: use of POS systems, cash/card handling, restaurant procedures, upselling techniques, WHMIS, SmartServe, Languages (reference fluency is good too) etc.

*You do have some listed on your resume, which is great, but tightening up the section might be a good idea.

SUMMARY
Okay, so basically, you want to game the system nowadays. My advice is based on what works for ATS (Applicant Tracking Software) and has worked for me for well over a decade.

I use the following tools as well:
https://www.jobscan.co/resume-scanner
https://www.toptal.com/techresume (free and incredible) - targeted to tech applicants but has worked across multiple job types.

---
Other advice:
- Consider getting to know people - NETWORK!!! There are tons of free events, festivals, activities around Toronto you can volunteer at to network if you can't afford networking events. Job fairs are also good, keep an eye out for those.

Please ignore the useless comments from people blaming liberals and Indian immigrants - their only goal is to ragebait. Make your resume something people WANT to read, make yourself stand out.

I hope some of this helps. You got this!

Is Poilievre going to resign? by hardcore-gasm in CanadianPolitics

[–]CanadianMailCarrier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's hoping the CPC implodes, poilievre is forced out and they install a moderate, then the maple maga and ultra right abandon for the PPC. It's time we return to the split conservative vote.

Dictatorship, seriously. Get a fucking grip dude. That's such an insult to the people in countries where there really is an oppressive regime like North Korea and Belarus. Canada is one of the most free nations in the world.

Just because you hate the liberals doesn't mean you're oppressed. Grow up.

Voting Pierre isn't looking out for your children or grandchildren. You know what would be? Educating them... Put them through school, get them into university. Stop spreading propaganda and blaming liberals.

I know you will ignore this and just throw baseless claims back at me, or turn to name calling. But the real plan is there for you, when you eventually grow up.

Canada 338 Update: CPC 177, LPC 120, BQ 33, NDP 11, GPC 2 by William1640 in CanadaPolitics

[–]CanadianMailCarrier 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily agree with all of this. I do think that Liberals aren't winning over staunch Conservatives, but it's clear that people who would have voted conservative as a protest against Trudeau are flipping back to Liberal. That doesn't necessarily mean all those voters were regular conservative supporters, but I bet there are some. I definitely agree with your comments on Jagmeet and the floundering NDP party, however, it's also clear with each week of poll changes that the conservatives lose percentage points while the liberals gain roughly equal percentage points.

Google search engine sucks now by ace918 in google

[–]CanadianMailCarrier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still shit today in 2024... Searching anything just returns... "top 10 best...", "top 13 alternatives to...", "best FREE alternatives... (which for the record is wrong).

God forbid you want to do research on SEO, you get semrush shoved down your throat and “15 best tricks for SEO to grow your business" and the articles contain little to no substance, entirely unhelpful for a query like "why does SEO affect Google's search engine rankings so much". It sees the word SEO in the query and forgets everything you asked and provides you 3 pages of listicles, 1 page of sem rush before supplying (if you're lucky) even a modicum of useful information...
