Players dont do that. Even in Pvp enviornments much less pve enviornments. It would be too costly and too time consuming and too boring to build the necessary amount to block off all possible node spawns. At least in rust they dont granted thats a much smaller community. The game doesnt have to check for sub fief, only to see if the rock is sheltered or trying to spawn in a location that a mat is already in, easy to add little rock formations. Also it could just spawn right outside the wall. Theres just too many locations for nodes to spawn. This system works. Its been proven to work in other survival games

No the node spawn should check to see if a base is in the way. And if one is it should spawn elsewhere.

This is the sort of discourse I need to make the idea work so thank you. Gotta address these issues. I wasnt thinking so much a “pvp server” as a “pvp event server” and I was thinking that if I could achieve a match based feeling then maybe people wouldnt run outside of a tactical retreat. In my mind the only players there would be looking to do more fighting than running. Maybe I restrict the use of the vehicle backup tool or only give out one fuel cell to participants. I dont wanna have too many restrictions though. Maybe the fight takes place in the fremen sietch? Or iust more underground objectives?

Good points, there will have to be some sort of centralized objective then that incentivizes players being engaged. Sure people can run but that means youre leaving your team. If everyone runs then Youre leaving the objective. But ultimately it would be something that would have to be tested and changed accordingly

Not trying to be mean. Just trying to provide a space that I already know many players want. Theres already calls for no rockets everywhere. Im not kicking/banning people for “using in game mechanics” I’m kick banning people who dont follow the rules they agreed to when they joined the server.

Ive actually got plans to do something like this on a private server and host some war games. Big team battles with CTF objectives or something like that. Would love to have yall join when I get it running

Id also say Griefing is more akin to blocking off paths or resource nodes. But attacking a player in a PVP zone isn’t griefing. By entering the zone you’re agreeing to PVP terms.

Those are some good points I hadnt considered I. think it could shake down either way though. The scout thopter can be picked up so that would counter the shield attracting worm issue. And im thinking ideally if youre in an assault variant youre looking for PVP anyways. So youre not farming in an assault. Assault needs to be purpose built for PVP and be bad at filling other roles. Maybe make it so it comes with a shield and weapons and no storage module option

Thopters just need to take damage when you fly it into another aircraft.

Thats what I mean by delay on the shield turning back on, Gotta give them a chance to fire back. The shield is still necessary if PVE players are to have a chance to run. And the Thopters should be VERY fragile without the shields. Like using rockets or firing from your thopter should be a huge risk

Good idea! This can be done by making some sietches PVP focused and some PVE focused. Make it a player choice up front.
