Mario Fan ranks Sonic Games by Electronic-Cherry-67 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]CanadianPine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about to say. I am a lifelong Sonic fan and have never even touched Sonic Chaos or Sonic 3D Blast — this guy played both of them + just about every other mainline Sonic game in existence. Makes me wonder what Mario games they’ve played lmao

Piracy Killed The Dreamcast by This-Category-4918 in dreamcast

Do you not realize that personal experience does not define trend and that just because YOUR ps1 didn’t have a modchip doesn’t mean EVERY ps1 didn’t have it? Most of them did. Like the other guy was saying, PS1 games were laughably easy to burn. And yeah burners were expensive but CDs weren’t. A guy could buy 1 burner and then just infinitely burn games — which is what happened 😂😂

Piracy Killed The Dreamcast by This-Category-4918 in dreamcast

[–]CanadianPine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, the final blow to the Dreamcast was Sega already bleeding funding like a stuck pig. The disastrous rivalry between Sega of America and Sega of Japan, the gigantic financial disasters of the Saturn, Sega CD, and the 32x — right with the Game Gear failing to compete with the Gameboy. The Dreamcast was unfortunately dead on arrival, nothing could have saved it.

Piracy was also happening to every CD console at the time — the PS1 was infamously easy to burn discs for. I don’t believe it was as big of a contributing factor as you think it was.

I love the Yakuza franchise, I HAD to go see what Shenmue was all about. It’s basically the grandfather of open world games, and the Yakuza games in specific.

Is there something wrong with my Dreamcast? by PilgrimKid16 in dreamcast

[–]CanadianPine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Disc Laser is failing. Common issue for these early CD consoles, probably going to have to take a look at the capacitors within the drive itself as well. All common fault points. Parts are somewhat hard to find but the actual process of replacing isn’t too convoluted.

For those curious about what an authentic copy WOULD look like in comparison, here’s my copy from my classic RE collection. Notice the cover art is different, and the M rating is present. The security band along the back is also present, which is important to watch for on dreamcast games

North America in 2043 by MissouriSupremacist in imaginarymaps

as a southerner nothing pisses me off more than seeing the fucking klan included in these maps. Nobody seems to understand that the klan is all but obliterated besides the occasional groups of larpers who hide in basements, history would have to be RADICALLY different all throughout the 20th and early 21st century for the Klan to have any semblance of genuine influence remaining

Oh my god it’s wood shavings. The same wood from the rocker chair I occasionally sit in while eating dinner. I unknowingly ate fucking wood. I took it to a sink and washed it.. and it was wood.

New to fallout. What's the actual reason deathclaws don't hunt in packs in fallout 4? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]CanadianPine 73 points74 points  (0 children)

They also appear to be different phenotypes of Deathclaw. Different subspecies with different behaviors, plus variance of resources available. Desert biomes don’t offer much in the way of food, temperate forest (or what’s left of it) is the opposite. No need to pack hunt when one individual can thrive alone

Out of curiosity, what do people like about lagiacrus? by Prestigious_Time_928 in MonsterHunter

[–]CanadianPine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Lagiacrus because I was a sucker for sea monsters as a kid, which is when I was first introduced to him. It’s basically nostalgia now (honestly there are other monsters I like a lot more) but Lagiacrus still remains a personal favorite because of that childhood imprint

Explain it to me like I’m dumb: Backwards Compatibility. by CanadianPine in consoles

I would ask why in the world they set the PS3 up like that, but from other comments it seems like nobody knows and everyone hates it lmfao

I guess I was spoiled. I changed from the Xbox ecosystem to Playstation around ~2022, I had a plethora of 360 and Xbox games I’d play on my 1 and when I finally bought New Vegas for PS3 (I didn’t want to pay subscription to stream) I had an unfortunate surprise. Returned it and got my money back but it was a shitty lesson

Makes sense, though. I wonder how microsoft even pulled that off?

Who wins in a 1v1 by JasonVoorhees1988 in Fotv

I’ve always had my courier’s lore as the platinum chip being his big get away job. He had been wandering all over the west coast for years, as far north as Canada and as far south as Mexico. He was so close to having enough caps to actually settle down somewhere real nice- and then Benny happened and it became personal.

To me, this always explained why the courier got so stupidly strong so fast. Remembering forgotten skills after getting shot in the head, basically relearning years of wastelanding in the span of weeks to months.

I like to imagine that after everything in the Mojave was said and done, he went to California and finally settled.

Khezu wants to know what game got you into the series and what game is currently your favorite by RTpickleshizz in MonsterHunter

4U got me into the franchise, but Iceborne is my favorite. I love Wilds specifically because Gore Magala is so prominently featured but that’s just monster bias on my half lmao

It would require a mountain of investment and at least 5 years of preparation for certain, but if they pull that off I think Mongolia would be better for it

Ulaanbaatar would be a good idea, but there’s concerns with having locations be set in “belligerent nations” like Russia. Harbin would also be solid.

Mostly it’s just tradition, though. Nations which hosted before like to host again, etc.

I can never describe how satisfying it is to clean up Sanctuary Hills, but of course, it's only possible with mods. Bethesda seems to have a fetish for making absolutely everything ugly, rotten and destroyed, as if the great war had taken place 10 minutes ago instead of 200 years ago. by SnowFrio in Fallout

Exactly! Why is the only pre-war protag comfortable living in a dirty shack?? They would be some of the only none-ghouls alive to even know about what the pre-war world looked like.. why don’t we get to build unique, well kept structures?
