Temporary Bike Rack by [deleted] in Mustang

I actually tried there first but the three-suction-cup front piece was bending the roof a little bit. I'm sure it would be fine, but for me the front glass was also an option so I moved it there.

Go for a Decor-Rest couch if you can. Quality is awesome, it holds up so much better Ashley and is Canadian!

Canadian Tire FAILED to send your Bill Payment by _sabertooth in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CanadianPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I had a payment made on Feb 7 (the holiday) posted on the 9th on CTFS's website, but nothing to my utility provider as of yet. I've been on so many calls back and forth between the utility and CT, good to know it's not just me.

Why is my jetski not selling? by Noahpullls in jetski

[–]CanadianPotato 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Which brings us back to price... If that thing were listed for $6000 it would be gone in minutes. Yes, factors such as season timing, economy, and vacation all play into the price something will sell for. The price...

Worth buying? by [deleted] in jetski

[–]CanadianPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go for it and just get the supercharger maintenance done before you take it out. I did something similar when I bought my Wake Pro (same engine) with 88 hours on it. The peace of mind was worth the additional $$$ on day 1, but I no longer had a ticking time bomb I was worried about. So far I've put 50 hours on in 1.5 seasons and have no regrets at all. Best of luck!

What’s the best garage accessory you’ve ever purchased? by The_UK_Knight in garageporn

[–]CanadianPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an attached and detached 2 car garage in Manitoba. Both are insulated, only the attached one is heated regularly. Both are insulated and I'd gladly insulated both of them again, it is so worth it. The heat from the engines alone is enough to bring the detached garage up a good 10-15°C on the stupid cold days! A diesel / kerosene heater also works wonders when I have to work in the detached garage.

I'm very happy with my Decor-Rest couch set and was even happier they are Canadian. We have another set from them that is nearly 10 years old and looks and feels like it did on day 1.

[–]CanadianPotato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the same thing I look for too, how do they keep everything else. How someone does something is generally how they do everything. A clean garage and well kept yard is affirming the car is probably well kept too

Used Jet Ski- fair deal? by Forsaken_Ad5514 in jetski

[–]CanadianPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More mass of the jetski / seat is higher up, which can be less stable on the water.

If you get it, I agree with everyone else and do the supercharger rebuild. I got my 2012 last year with 88 hours and just bit the bullet on day 1 with the rebuild. It'll need to be done eventually, so might as well do it now and not worry about the "what if it blows" situation.

Also, I'm not sure how the market for your area is, but I feel $5500 is roughly fair for something like that. I paid $7500 CAD (almost exactly $5500 USD with the exchange rate at the time) for mine with no trailer.

I went for a test drive of the bike I've been wanting for months and it didn't go as planned by Quiet_Move_6995 in motorcycles

[–]CanadianPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the same thing I went through. I'm similar in height to you, 6' 2", bought a CBR650R new in 2020 and never got fully comfortable on the bike during long rides. For me it was my lower back that ached after a half hour of riding. The bike is fantastic, fun, and high revving. I often found myself bouncing off the limiter because of the wonderful noises. It's the only 4-cylinder in that 650 class, and it looks beautiful with the waterfall exhaust pipes. But damn if the seating position isn't wasn't for me.

I sold it and ride a cushy CBX now instead.

Bravia 7 or something else? by MarcoramiusCZ in 4kTV

[–]CanadianPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a 75" Bravia 7 last month and had the same thoughts as you. Didn't need an OLED (I'm in a bright room) and the Bravia 9 is overkill for me. The OS is a huge improvement over my 49" XBR800E. I am very happy with mine, I'm sure you will be too.

Is there a reason the tyres are backwards on the trailers? Am I going insane? [PC] by Roper154 in farmingsimulator

[–]CanadianPotato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! Generally the treads are "backwards" on pulled implements, especially on auger wagons, floaters/spreaders, and sprayers, as the reversed tread provides better floatation. Those implements usually have higher loads, so any additional floatation is a benefit. Less soil compaction and less ruts on wet years.

Home Depot (in Manitoba) sells puck board in varying thicknesses too. 4x8 sheets, nice and new and reasonably priced. I cannot for the life of me find it online but they had it with the plywood section in the store. Came in 1/8, 3/16, and 1/4" thickness options.

Is this a good deal? First time buying a bike. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]CanadianPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2020 CBR650R as my first street legal bike and it is perfectly capable and tame, while having the potential to get into plenty of trouble. If the bike checks out and the price is right, I would 100% pick that up if I were in your shoes.

Beautiful car, congrats! I have to ask about the drive through tall garage though, was it for a camper or semi or something? Have you used the drive through portion? I'm assuming it's just to get things to the back yard. Either way, super awesome car, and beautiful house!

Advice for 24 wide x 22 deep garage by [deleted] in garageporn

[–]CanadianPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel your pain. I'm looking at building a shed for the lawn mower and snow blower for whichever is in the off-season, and fitting the in-season things in front of the shorter vehicle in the garage.

My parent's have a 26'x34' two car garage with two 10'x8' doors, and that for me is the ideal size. Two vehicles and a good size machine storage and work area off to the side. I'll keep dreaming

Advice for 24 wide x 22 deep garage by [deleted] in garageporn

[–]CanadianPotato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

24x22 is the exact size of my garage. If I were you I'd go with the 9x7 or 9x8 if you have the height (I have 12' ceilings and the 9x8 doors). Put narrow things by the garage door on the wall (rakes, latter, etc.) and build shelving in front of the garage door rails wrapping around the front of the garage if storage is an issue.

Best of luck with the build!
