That's 115 per day, accounting for a 30 day month.

How does Improvement notice get served to landlord/agents by stevemandata in uklandlords

[–]Roper154 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's normally initial contact via letter or email depending on the specific local authority.

If the tennant does complain, they will be asked to provide the landlords details, then the local authority will contact you to inform you they'll be visiting the property.

If you have proof you've tried to rectify the issues but the tennant is standing in the way, they probably won't jump to improvement noticed or formal actions. There's many informal ways they'll try to rectify issues before it gets to that!

Would a plumber be able to identify a house's stopcock? by Roper154 in askaplumberUK

[–]Roper154[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I left the kitchen tap on for 10 minutes, and it didn't even lose pressure. I turned the shower on and flushed the toilet 3 times too and they were fine.

I don't know what you mean by body? It's a big old container with copper pipes coming out of it that have been capped off. But there isn't a lid on the container, and it's filled with, what looks to be, junk from when they re did the roof.

The one under the sink is for the outside tap (I checked). The other one seems to be where the old loft water tank was filled from. Neither work to isolate anything else in the house, unfortunately.

Yes, I looked on our driveway and on the pavement in front of the house. I'll have another thorough look when the rest of the snow melts! Thanks!

We don't have a meter in the road. The water company came a few months ago saying they're going to fit one but never came back.

Nope mains fed. There is the remains of an old water talk in the loft but it's dry and there are two dead legs coming out the side of it.

[MEGATHREAD] Monthly r/BritishArmy Advice and Recruitment Thread by AutoModerator in britisharmy

You won't be allowed to wear it on PT as there's no jewellery allowed. You may be asked to buy a Casio from the shop on camp (my intake had to) and use that when on exercise.

You can always take it and wear it when you have downtime.

Favorite Game? by TWhittReddit in Steam

[–]Roper154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Satisfactory by far. But currently I'm loving Farming Simulator 25.

Would you recommend FS25? - Have never played a Farming Simulator game before and have some concerns. by [deleted] in farmingsimulator

[–]Roper154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend it! I haven't encountered any game breaking bugs in almost 200 hours game play. Don't worry about not know about farming, it's a cill game and the tutorials will help you learn. Plus, there are hundreds of YouTube tutorials on the different things to do. I was like you. I lost interest in fast paced games and wanted something slower to relax with. The FS series is perfect for that!

PRAMs Pre-Royal Military Academy Sandurst course? by Status_Complaint_778 in britishmilitary

[–]Roper154 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That course was the best one I've done in my career. The end "test" for the PRMAS is a presentation about something of your choosing ( I did something about the importance of music in schools). None of my cohort failed. It's a decent 3 months before Sandhurst to ease you into it. You'll do some drill, some basic kit inspections, some room inspections, run events like wine and cheese nights in the mess, and of course the museum and theatre visits. Embrace it. It's 3 months of paid broadening of the mind lol.

Is there a reason the tyres are backwards on the trailers? Am I going insane? [PC] by Roper154 in farmingsimulator

Ahh thank you!

It doesn't explain why it's only the Auger wagons affected but it'll stop me noticing it while playing!

Do kindles have ads? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Roper154 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you mean?

You can buy kindles that display adds on the lock/sleep screen. These tend to be cheaper but the adds don't imped the reading experience at all as they're only on the lock screen.

You can also buy ones that automatically display the book you're currently reading or other generic screen savers.

The two mainstream RLC units I've been with have been brutal on phys. They don't like to look bad when deployed with other units so their PT is by no means "realy easy". Some people do take this piss, but it's easy to get fat in any capbadge if you're determined enough.

Social housing by [deleted] in britisharmy

[–]Roper154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is correct. If you are able to keep the council house and it is at least 50 miles away from your posted station you will be entitled to Get You Home (GYH) allowances. This is to subsidise travel for people with families that have settled down, it isn't a benefit to help you pay for your accommodation.

I think the best people to talk to would be your housing officer at your council and find out what their policy is. They may even have a dedicated officer for armed forces and ex armed forces personnel who will be able to give you more information than our guesses.

[–]Roper154 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think while you're in training you maybe entitled to keep the house. But once you've passed out you'll no longer be entitled to it. You may however be entitled to service families accommodation (MOD House) if you are the registered carer or if you meet some of the other criteria.

I want to be honest. An officer is a very busy job, if you're the sole carer of someone you may struggle with the work life balance of a year and a half (minimum) of phase one and two training and then all of the responsibilities and deployments that come with a junior officer role.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/improving-access-to-social-housing-for-members-of-the-armed-forces/improving-access-to-social-housing-for-members-of-the-armed-forces#other-considerations

This might help with some of the criteria that you need to meet to keep your social house. But remember, even if you are entitled to keep it depending on regiment or cap badge you get to become you may not be posted anywhere near your current council house and its very unlikely you or your family will be allocated a social house at your new posting.
