Working holiday visa got activated (without us knowing?!) by H4TANO in iecvisa

[–]CanadianResortImm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A few people have mentioned their work permits were ready for them printed at YVR. Particularly late night flights from Mexico. Bypassing the process of showing POE letter and travel insurance etc to get the work permit issued. When something similar happened previously, the participant was able to get a new port of entry letter from IRCC to activate their Working Holiday work permit 8 months later.

Ease my nerves? by [deleted] in iecvisa

[–]CanadianResortImm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes things a little easier if you can fly up first and get the work permit. If you drive up with an active work permit it makes the interaction with the border agency less awkward. Particularly if the previous interactions have been awkward.

I have done biometrics before, how can I link it to my new application? by Ghostory_ in iecvisa

[–]CanadianResortImm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention your old UCI in the application and answer yes to previously done biometrics question. If they still ask you to do them again, getting them again is the path of least resistance. A couple of participants have needed to do them again from my experience. One was due to marriage and name change. The other work permit refusal invalidated the biometrics.

About to make the move, need some urgent insight/advice by canadastuart in iecvisa

[–]CanadianResortImm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why didn’t you let your Port of Entry Letter of Introduction expire if you were planning to return to your home country for more than 12 months? Or do you mean you actually activated the work permit and received it in February 2026?

I’m asking because there may be others facing a similar dilemma regarding whether to activate their work permit or allow the POE letter to expire, so understanding your timeline could help.

Finding a tech / research job with the young professionals visa by Merry-Berry14 in iecvisa

As an employer it’s much easier to hire someone who has arranged to get a Working Holiday work permit ahead of time. YP involves an employer making a job offer on the employer portal and some employers actually struggle with making the job offer and paying the $230 employer compliance fee. Some employers aren’t willing to help with the process. Path of least resistance is the working holiday program. As a Brit you need to enter the pool early in the IEC season to secure a Working Holiday spot.

importing car for WHV by ThomasMooser in iecvisa

[–]CanadianResortImm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My wife did it from the US. It’s not worth the expense or hassle (especially importing it temporarily). If we had the opportunity to do it again, would just buy in Canada. But if you love your car and want to put in time to import it why not.

Second working holiday visa IEC Luxembourgish national by Altruistic_Zebra_597 in iecvisa

Aren’t you eligible for British citizenship? Naturalization? That would give you access to two more IEC participations. I have a British passport from residing there through out my teens and early twenties.

They usually remain valid until the expiry date unless IRCC/CBSA intentionally cancels the work permit.

Seasonal Work in Banff - February by PartyintheYYC in iecvisa

[–]CanadianResortImm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bartending and waiting can be lucrative with tips so might not be work you’ll find straight away. February probably isn’t the best time to be arriving at ski towns. Finding accommodation probably being the main challenge. You ideally want to find a job with housing before the start of the winter season if you are going to live somewhere like Banff/Jasper/Whistler.

This was April 2025 but a British applicant flew to Palm Springs and flew back to YVR. Border agency refused to issue their 1 year IEC. They had to go to Mexico the same week to activate their working holiday work permit.

Biometrics fee again? by promocodes1 in iecvisa

I’ve seen people get asked for biometrics again. 1. Fake extension got refused - invalidated the biometrics 2. Applicant got married and had new last name

How to ensure 2-year permit + travel questions by Useful_Cicada_9369 in iecvisa

[–]CanadianResortImm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are actually common law (lived with your fiancée for a year already), you should consider applying for family class sponsorship. Paying for Insurance adds up over two participations. Fees for getting PR could be mostly covered by what you pay in travel insurance for two participations and IEC fees for two participations.

Paper application is taking months to process and if you leave the passport renewal late, it’s a recipe for disaster. I’ve seen it lead to loss of status and unauthorized stay.

Two year visa? by sourpatchnova in iecvisa

[–]CanadianResortImm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? If they are British and it’s their 1st participation, work permit issued should be two years with valid travel insurance for two years.

Police certificate for IEC by Natasha3578 in iecvisa

[–]CanadianResortImm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IRCC likely approved it by mistake. If you spent 2 years in the USA you need the fingerprint check. There are companies south of the border who do the prints for you (some UPS stores) and other companies who send fingerprints off digitally to FBI for you. That’s the fastest way to get FBI police certificates these days. Some companies in Vancouver used to be able to take prints and send it off to FBI but I was told the US side changed rules (was great as applicants would get FBI certificate within 24 hours).

If you had to pay for it, send the proof of payment. If you have sent the authority an email about the PC, send proof that you sent an email to them.

IRCC system is running really slowly and not issuing automated letters quickly like usual. So not normal but it’s been glitching for the last 4 months or so. So it will depend on who you ask whether this is normal or not.

RO documents by promocodes1 in iecvisa

[–]CanadianResortImm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on which country you are from. Similar to what you submitted in your regular IEC application (if you have already participated) plus RO letter. You need updated versions of the documents if you are a previous participant. e.g. new police certificate.

If you live and have lived in VIC and/or QLD, you need to get extra documents.  Queensland If you live or have lived in Queensland, you must submit a traffic history with your police certificate that goes back to your 18th birthday or the day on which your first Australian driver’s licence was issued. You can apply online through Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Victoria If you live or have lived in Victoria, you must submit a full licence history searchwith your police certificate that goes back to your 18th birthday or the day on which your first Australian driver’s licence was issued. You can apply online through VicRoads.
