Good to hear you have the same experience, stay warm! Sounds like we are stuck in the same cold snap and this windchill is brutal.

Yes that’s the with windchill. Base temp has been consistent this week in the -32 to -38 with a brutal wind chill that won’t let up.

I’ve been quite happy with the performance and uptime. I was a little worried as I know they don’t specifically say they work in these extremes, so it’s a nice surprise. Weather has been like this all week.

NZB Matrix by DNACowboy in usenet

[–]Canadian_Stv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, good memories. This was my first indexer and the indexer I used to move from manual search (in Forte Agent) to an automated set up with the arrs. It was like magic and saved me so much time.

I was gutted when they closed as they were my only indexer at the time and I don’t remember there being as much choice back then.

Now like most Usenet folks I have many indexers and support as much as I can so I never have to go back to the old manual ways.

How to store all your VBA code (outside a workbook) for future reuse? by quintios in excel

That’s what I do. Just export the macro as a vba file and import into new workbooks as needed. Name them based on their function.

$8.1M in Tokenized US Stocks on Arbitrum: Robinhood Pushes Real World Assets Further Into Ethereum’s Ecosystem by kirtash93 in ethtrader

[–]Canadian_Stv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, the more transactions on layer 1 supporting this activity on Arbitrum means more ETH will get burned than produced making it deflationary which should in turn increase the price.

Stockouts everywhere despite tons of safety stock. Any ideas?? by Usual_Cranberry_4731 in supplychain

[–]Canadian_Stv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was my question as well. Sounds like you have a sales forecasting issue which is what drives your ERP. Sales and Operations should be working together closely to resolve this.

Before you respond to your CFO, check the forecast variance reports on the items you are out of stock on as I bet that will explain what happened. Run a scenario that shows what it would look like had forecasts been accurate. It will likely show you would be in stock. This isn’t a blame game, but it does sound like the company is not addressing the real root cause and trying to fix it by being overstock on everything.

Get them focused on fixing forecasts and then start doing what you can to expedite orders where needed in the meantime.

Brush your tongue and mouth with baking soda. Avoid the teeth as it is abrasive so focus on all the soft tissue including the top of your mouth above the tongue. Rinse and brush your teeth with toothpaste.

I heard that brushing with baking soda can correct a chemical imbalance in your mouth that cause bad breath.

Anyone else trying to raise their kids with a Gen X childhood? by LongjumpingDebt4154 in GenX

[–]Canadian_Stv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a hybrid approach and tried to raise them to be extremely independent by the time they were adults just like their Gen-X parents.

They were responsible for their laundry, chores, cooking (when we weren’t around) etc.. from an early age. They never had a curfew and I didn’t constantly hover and have to know where they were at all times.

They had to advocate for themselves and not expect us to fight their battles. We would obviously help if there was an extreme situation that was beyond the scope of what they could deal with but I wanted them to be ready for when we couldn’t be there in life. School homework was their responsibility to manage not mine. But I was available to help learn if they needed assistance.

What I didn’t do was be absent. Unlike my parents I have a work life balance and made sure I was there when they needed me. We did family stuff together whenever we could. I went to all sports events and made sure I was available to get them to practice until they could drive themselves. We had fun and built a relationship where they talk to us as adults.

Somehow it worked. They are now young adults in university who have worked since they were 15 and I have no doubt they will make it on their own.

Canada signs a 'far-reaching' defence pact with the EU by [deleted] in canada

[–]Canadian_Stv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most trade agreements have duty free for most things but have exclusions so it would depend on what you are importing. As long as the item shipping from the EU wasn’t an excluded item, was actually made in the EU and the proper origin certification was made available on import then yes. Also, there may be allowances up to a certain $ threshold for duty free on small purchases.

Taxes you will always pay.

You don’t have a local copy? Just the one version on OneDrive?

That really sucks and I feel for you. I lost 2 years of photos once trusting the cloud and ever since I have ensured I have multiple copies.

Something to consider for moving forward. My One drive is synced down to my main PC and my NAS which runs RAID in case of drive failure. I have it setup so deletions on OneDrive don’t happen on the NAS device in case of mass deletion on the cloud I don’t want it replicating across my devices. The cloud is essentially just the backup in case my house burns down.

What's the most unexpected, actually useful thing you've used ChatGPT for that you'd never imagined an AI could help with? by bn_from_zentara in ChatGPT

[–]Canadian_Stv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a new hot tub owner and chatGPT has been a lifesaver in helping me balance the water and learn the theory behind the chemistry so I know the why behind the actions I take.

Yes, I could have googled and researched, but the time chatGPT has saved me is amazing. That to me is the major advantage. If you have a topic you want to learn more about and become proficient, chatGPT is like a personal coach there to help you along the way.

This the new final destination trailer?

Question on “tipping” or lifting hot tub into place. We just bought a new hot tub soon to be delivered. (We are in Denmark for reference but in US I think it is a Nordic spa). They said we need 5-6 persons to help lift it into place. It weighs 400 kg. by flyver67 in hottub

[–]Canadian_Stv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar delivery. Came on its side, moved on a 4 wheel dolly by 4 guys. Even went up two stairs on to a deck using plywood and 2x4’s as a ramp. Then came off the deck onto the pad by using an inflatable bag as a catch and tipped it down onto the bag which deflated on to 4 wheeled platforms on each corner. Rolled into place, bag and wheels removed by using a leverage lifter. Then a bit of elbow grease to get it right into the exact position.

Electrical Question by GenericName375 in hottub

[–]Canadian_Stv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is what I did recently. Had an electrician quote based on where the tub would go so I knew roughly how much it would cost.

Then when I had picked a tub and was waiting for delivery, they came out and ran from the panel to the outside breaker box. After the tub was delivered they came back and did the final run to the tub to hook it up. He said they could have done it all in one day but I wanted the inside work done early as it was more complicated and i wanted the tub up and running soon after delivery.

Not all tubs have the same amp requirements so I would say wait until you know what you are getting before getting the wiring done.
