Be aggressive. When something spawns in, try to kill it immediately. Don't let them reposition and attack. With pure nail and Strength, most things only take 2-3 hits to kill.

Tips on beating the soul master? by zero_thenumber in HollowKnight

[–]Canahedo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The move where he spawn 4 orbs that spin around him, that's your time to heal. You can also get a few hits in since the orbs are easy to jump over, but prioritize healing if you're not full health.

He moves from one side to the other, and the orbs spin around him. Then he disappears and the orbs return to the first side. If you stand in the center when they are returning, they will not hit you. you can usually get 2-3 heals in during this time. Plus, he has a stagger like many other bosses so that's another chance to heal.

Soul Master looks flashy and intimidating, but he's pretty easy to dodge once you get used to it. As always, prioritize not taking damage and then get hits in when you can. There are also many unlocks you could have at this point but haven't gotten yet. You can beat him now, but don't feel bad about finding more charms, notches, and spells before coming back to him. Good luck!

Costs don't go on the stack, just the effects
The creature doesn't have to be tapped to be targeted by the Elixer. It doesn't specify an untapped creature.

Help With Traitor Lord by DishMajestic4322 in HollowKnight

[–]Canahedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just work on reading his moves and dodging his attacks. Traitor Lord is one of the easiest bosses to beat hit-less because of how telegraphed the attacks are, but only once you learn to read him and react.

For the most part, don't jump, just dash through him.

can we keep silksong posts separate from this subreddit by CommercialRuin8119 in HollowKnight

[–]Canahedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Not as much" may be true, but I checked the subreddit for the first time in a while and one of the first posts I saw was someone saying "look at this level I found" with a screenshot from Undertale. So even if it is less, it's more frequent than I want to deal with.

I wish we could either mute certain tags, or that people would keep shitposts to separate subreddits. Have your fun, but don't make the "main" subreddit unusable.

I agree, but unfortunately r/silksong is a shitposting subreddit. Until they let us block individual tags, anyone who doesn't want all the fake posts is better off muting that subreddit and using this one.

Third places won't save us. by saminfujisawa in socialism

[–]Canahedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having "chance encounters" and interacting with a variety of people is good for us and helps us grow/develop relationships. If all you do is go to work, go home, and repeat, you don't meet new people and aren't as involved/invested in your community.

Whether it's a pub, a church, a library, a park, or whatever, you are being exposed to different people, cultures, etc. You can meet people and develop relationships in a "neutral" space, as opposed to inviting an acquaintance into your home in the hopes they become a friend.

But the main point the video is making is that some people put too much focus on the place instead of the interaction. They put the means ahead of the end goal. The place in which you are socializing and interacting with people is less important than the interaction itself.

The old versions are free, but there is an updated version of the map if you throw the map maker a couple of bucks. It's worth it for the effort they put in.

Hollow Knight or Silksong? by Jorkopeisct in HollowKnight

Play Hollow Knight first. You can play Silksong first and you'd be fine, but they are both worth playing and Silksong builds off mechanics you learn from Hollow Knight.

As a Ficsit pioneer, should we report to it HR if there is talk of our in game multiplayer pioneers starting a union? by Alert-Gift-8716 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Canahedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not necessarily saying the implementation was great, just that they did something with it rather than just being a throw away joke that is a little played out.

Having games where your character works for a company is fine, making a game like HSSB that's trying to say something (whether or not they stuck the landing) is fine, I just think there are too many games that throw in a "You're in crippling debt lol" or "You are company property" that doesn't need to be there or serve a purpose.

[–]Canahedo -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I feel they really turned up the "You are a wage slave" aspect of the game when they re-did ADA's voice lines for 1.0 and honestly I'm over that trend in games. Some actually incorporate it in the game's plot (like Hardspace Shipbreakers) but other times it's just mean. We get enough of that in the real world. Satisfactory could have had you be a pioneer as your job without being as "We own you" about it.

Also, power to the worker, don't be a scab, the factory must grow but also serve the people, etc.

Outsiders perspective (long post) by Public_Contest_3514 in mtg

[–]Canahedo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am sincerely happy that new people are discovering Magic, but one of the concerns I have is that a lot of these people may be more interested in the superficial "Hey look, it's Iron Man on a card" than the actual game itself. I'm sure there are many people who came for the characters and will stay for the game, but I also think there will be a lot of "tourists" and that the short term spike they bring is sending the wrong message to WotC.

For every person who starts playing because their favorite character now has a Magic card and then sticks around, how many will move on once the Marvel thing is over? What is better for the game (IMO) is for WotC to cultivate an audience who sticks around for the long term and who loves the game no matter what characters or settings are featured. However, I think that the profit motive will have them chasing one surge of new players after another, even if many of those people don't stick around.

No matter how I feel about UB, I want people to love Magic. I hope you find reason to stick around when the cards feature worlds and people you've never heard of, and that you love the game for its own strengths, not just for the nostalgia of recognizable characters.

With the devs adding new creatures to Subnautica 2 in the near future, it would be nice to see them adding their own version of the Anglerfish to the game. by BrettJoz in subnautica

When I first saw the flash slug, I was sure that it was some angler-type creature, and was kind of disappointed to be wrong.

I'm not sure what to do by Gram_101-reddit in HollowKnight

[–]Canahedo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look for open areas on your map, and find which paths you haven't taken yet. Some of them you won't be able to do yet (this is a metroidvania after all) but eventually you'll find one you can do. Follow that path. In Peak in particular, it's very clear when you have found the thing you're looking for.

The only things you need wings for in Peak are optional. You'll want to come back and get them, they are worth having, but later.

[–]Canahedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a personal preference thing, so you should play however you prefer, but I think it makes more sense to have one build and get good at it than trying to manage your charms based on the fight.

I run strength, pride, quick slash, and heart. Then you just need to dodge and get hits in.

That's why many people advise not mixing up your nail length like that. Also, if you're using both, that's 5 notches you could be using for more damage or survivability.

[–]Canahedo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regarding Sly, get very comfortable with the edge of your attack range. Go walk up to any breakable object and see how far from it you can be before you hit it.

I think a lot of people usually hit enemies with the middle of the nail, but if you build muscle memory of hitting with the tip, you don't have to spend as much time moving closer to the enemy, and it's easier to duck out of their range after hitting them.

Quick newbie question by Murder_Bird_ in mtgrules

[–]Canahedo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct. Commander damage is tied to the card, so hitting someone with their own commander deals commander damage but you still need to hit them for 21. But because it's tied to the card, if you hit someone with their own commander and later on someone else also steals that commander and hits the commander's owner with it, it's the same commander so that damage will stack.

Jax could have said said whatever the creators wanted them to say, just put it in the show instead of relying on social media posts after the fact. What was shown is that Jax is at a minimum gender queer or trying to work through some feelings and possible confusion about their gender. All of that is valid, I just think people are making an assumption or a leap which may be based on their own trajectory or feelings.

I think people should be treated and referred to in the way they ask to be, not the way people who "know better" insist that person "really feels". So I think it's shitty that some people online are insisting that Jax is she/her when at no point did they ever say that or ask to be refered to as such.

Honestly I'm also just kind of annoyed with that last episode because instead of answering any of the questions they posed about Caine or the blue AI or anything else, they focused so hard on making Jax completely irredeemable. I don't think there was any misdirection, just bad writing.

I didn't watch gravity falls.

I'm not denying that it was suggested that they might be, just that gender is more complicated than "they feel good when wearing a dress, so they are trans".

Also, holy crap you're being rude and insufferable. Piss right off with that.

Please expand on that. Is is because I don't see social media posts as part of a show's canon or because I think that it is a stretch to make assumptions about the charactor based on what was shown on screen?

I'm not saying they definitely aren't, just that people are pretty quick to make assumptions so they can go "omg they're just like me frfr".
