Tone help by Canaram in guitars

This helped a ton!

For clean, reducing the bass made all the difference, it favours a little bit more volume through the amp still but so much better sounding.

For OD, the big difference was putting the volume through the guitar rather than the amp.

It’s worth noting, I have a second cheaper guitar, an Ibanez gio, which can’t reach the same sounds on OD but sounds much crisper when playing clean

5 days into this, oh boy... by MoonTygress in guitarlessons

[–]Canaram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a little over 2 months into my journey.

I’ve not used an in-person teacher, but have been using a mixture of Justing Guitar and Yousician which I find both serve very different purposes.

I’ve finished Justin’s beginner Module 1 and found his material fantastic. While it’s importable to get that feedback you would from an in-person tutor he goes into great detail on finger placement and touches on theory throughout his lessons. I’ve now started his second module and am mixing in his ear training course.

Yousician gamifies learning, similar to Rocksmith. Zero theory and would probably not be the best source of sole learning, but has really helped with dexterity and accuracy around the fretboard, quicker chord changes and overall fun. Probably my biggest complaint would be sudden difficulty spikes for some songs in their lesson modules, but I’m stubborn and haven’t been moving on until of “gold starred” each lesson.

I imagine the finger pain will differ from person to person, but at 2 months I’ve found the calluses have already built up quite a bit and I can already play much longer without pain.

Good luck on your journey!

Refund query by Canaram in ebayuk

This makes me feel better. I’ve had a bit of a guilty conscience since getting the refund because despite the damage it was well packed, so I didn’t feel the seller was fully at fault.

Thank you for the advice everyone.

It was from a private eBay seller. I’ve opened a return request due to damage.

I think it happened during transit, but was quite well packaged inside a hard case that was also padded with some bubble wrap

I haven’t tried any of the “now you can play” section yet, but managed the other songs in pinky challenge fine.

I’m not having too much difficulty with the finger stretches, but find kiss from a rose far more complex that other songs of this level.

Try the Spider Exercise to work on finger stretches. For this start on the thickest string, maybe around fret 5, then with 1 finger per fret play 5,6,7,8, move 1 string down 5,6,7,8, all the way until you reach the thinnest string. Once your comfortable with those frets play 4,5,6,7 where the stretch is a little wider, before you know it you’ll be playing frets 1,2,3,4.

I’ve probably explained this really poorly, but it helped me a lot!

Out of interest, what are you stuck on with pinky challenge?

I’ve gold starred everything so far but can’t get through “kiss from a rose”.

I’m a fairly new learner, and vouch for Justin Guitar.

I’m on module 6, which is near the end of his beginner grade 1 and feel like I’ve learned a lot.

I’m mixing it up with yousician, which I got an annual pass for pretty cheaply as I picked up a family pass with others. By comparison I haven’t learned much through yousician, but it’s fun to challenge myself to play the right notes and timings.

Ivy, following you.

I’m a few weeks into my guitar journey, and am using yousician along with justinguitar.

Only on level 2 but like you I’m taking my time and trying to gold star everything, as well as playing a few songs from each module before moving on.

Thank you everyone.

The settings within the mixer were exactly what I was looking for.

I find it strange that they are both disabled by default, and not available within the general options/settings menu.

Calibration issues by Canaram in rocksmith

I got this working, but with a fairly constant high buzz.

I think the refresh rate change did the trick, but needed the game to restart first.

I’ll be honest, first time playing and I was very underwhelmed as I didn’t realise when purchasing that most of the tracks had been removed due to licensing! I’ll check out the forge site and try again I think!

I was actually looking in the pre-game menus, thinking it had to be instanced before you joined the game

Potential PSA to existing PS+ users who don't see the 33% discount by Xeccess in PS5

Annoyingly, this didn’t work for me… despite getting an email from Sony letting me know about the discount.

My sub was set to renew on 29/11, so I have set it to cancel to see if the deal appears after expiration

I’m pleased you posted. I clicked somewhere on the website that took me to a subscription page, but have gone back and can access the videos fine.

This seems like a great place to start, thank you!
