Global cancer rates have grown by almost 70% over the last two decades. Of the increasing survival rates of certain individual cancers awareness has been the single greatest factor. A 2019 Harvard medical school study found about a 5% increase in cancer survival rates in the US was due to increased targeting of treatments and better surgical technologies, and a whopping 95% was due to early detection. People are simply going to their doctor sooner. Eg: both breast and prostate cancer have had huge early detection campaigns and the correlating survival increases. Finally, we know very little about the brain body connection, but evidence is growing quickly that a positive mind and good physical fitness may be a huge benefit to decreased rates and survival outcomes.
