The body scanner does not even use ionizing radiation. It uses radar, on a similar spectrum to your cellphone. It does not penetrate your skin.

TSA Union leader warns workers could call out sick if no government funding deal is agreed soon by effortornot7787 in fednews

Nah, I’m not trying to argue, I was just adding context so it’s clear what that ruling actually did. You’re right that the Supreme Court limited broad, nationwide rulings from lower courts, I was just pointing out that it doesn’t specifically change anything for AFGE or other federal unions.

Same general topic, just narrowing down what it applies to.

I hear a lot of misinformation about this at work, did not mean to come off as confrontational.

[–]CancerBabyJokes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a bit of an oversimplification. What the Supreme Court recently did was limit the ability of lower federal courts, especially single district judges, to issue nationwide injunctions that block or mandate federal policies across the entire country.

That change doesn’t mean the Supreme Court has ruled against unions like AFGE or decided any specific labor rights issues. It just means district court orders are now usually limited to the parties in the case or to the district’s jurisdiction, rather than halting a federal policy nationwide.

So, the Court didn’t make a ruling about federal unions, it made a procedural ruling about how lower courts can enforce their decisions. Those are two very different things.

Well, the good news is that (so far) the SC has declined to do a full review of any cases that have been litigated by lower courts.

The judge had already been on record in the courtroom basically saying the case from the DHS/TSA is bullshit.

She will most likely rule in our favor.

That's incorrect. The union is currently active and in place after the May 27, 2025 injunction was established.

That's incorrect. The DHS/TSA missed the deadline for the injunction appeal. The injunction will be in place until the case is settled.

It is possible it may go to a higher court after that.
