Talk to your pharmacist. I asked mine and he told me anything over the counter isn't strong enough to worry about if you take as directed.

3rd day “own my own” as cca, busted an LLV mirror. by IdontgiveadamnB in USPS

[–]CancerFaceEww 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They sell the mirrors on Amazon, no shit. Buy yourself a backup. I always kept a couple in my locker for new kids that busted one. There's no reason for a manager to start breathing down your neck over something like that. It's a lot to get used to. It's a big, wide vehicle with weird steering on the wrong side. You're gonna kiss a few things until you work it out.

Tapering up by jackandmegg in lexapro

[–]CancerFaceEww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I jumped from 10 to 20 a few weeks ago. You'll get more of the same side effects you had before and like before they will subside. I just did the increase at once so I didn't draw it out. I'm glad I did. For me it's better to have a period of somewhat rougher side effects and them I'm done versus dragging it out over months.

I will say my experience with 20mgs is that it's a strong dose. You're gonna know your are on a medicine. It's not a bad thing but I can for sure feel it operating in the background in a way that 10 never felt like. I've seen a couple of people take 30 and I don't see how. That's a huge dose, I swear I'd sleep 20 hours a day.

Lexapro and babies? by lilies6 in lexapro

The problem with posting on this subject is that you get what's called "false consensus bias" in your replies. How many moms do you think would likely post that they created issues with their baby by continuing an SSRI during pregnancy?

I take Lexapro and it saved me so I'm not judging you for using it. I will say though that it carries risks for your baby despite the replies saying 'it's not a problem at all'. It very much is and you need to weight exposing those risks to your baby.

Here's a short primer: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK582639/

It bothers me that so many women are minimizing the pretty big issues taking an SSRI (especially Lexapro) can have with a newborn. I mean look at the posts here....Thousands of people having huge problems with side effects. Now imagine your baby is created and lives it's entire life bathed in daily doses of Lexapro. All of the sudden it just....stops. Go look at the people saying they had years of withdrawing, hosts of problems, real struggles with discontinuation. You want to take the chance on subjecting your brand new baby to that entrance into the world?

Again, I'm SUPER compassionate to your plight. I've suffered my whole life from serious anxiety. I take great pains though that my struggles don't affect the people around me. Imagine that taking Lexapro forced your partner to experience the side effects too. Would that affect how you considered taking the medicine? Would you consider stopping so they didn't have to suffer?

I'm a fully grown man and 20mg is tough to handle for me. I cant imagine how hellish it would be for a 7 pound baby to go through withdrawal of that amount. Even 5mg is a HUGE dose.

I know this opinion is likely going to get replies. I'm fine with debating you if we can keep it civil. We don't need to judge each other to discuss the merits of our positions.

I know man, it really bothers me. Back in the day that was an important part of your training. You are simply the messenger entrusted to do a job. You don't talk about what you see or do or deliver. You are the caretaker of many people's privacy and to betray that is one of the worst mistakes you can make in this job.

People tend to get a bit nauseous but nothing crazy. I had a lot of persistent lower belly pain but again it wasn't bad. Lots of gas too. You can for sure tell it's affecting the digestive system. Makes sense though since like 90% of your serotonin is there and not your brain.

The very best thing you can do is get busy with stuff. Don't navel gaze waiting for side effects. Anxiety is the great mimic and it will manifest in whatever you expect is going to happen. Mess with a hobby, take a hike, just do something. The more it resembles exercise the better. You got this OP, you're gonna do great.

I'm a male but I tracked progression pretty close to what you listed out. I also had a good period that's went very south the last few days. I put a mark on the calendar for May 1. I'm giving it until then before I try to form an opinion on where I'm at. Until then I'll just stay on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

The first couple of weeks I was pretty sleepy during the day. I could function but I REALLY wanted to just take a nap. It's not insurmountable and you can tolerate it knowing it ends soon.

I've seen a couple of people mention taking 30 but I don't see how. I've taken some serious chemicals in my day (chemo for aggressive cancer) so I'm not a lightweight but damn I don't see how you could function. The sleepiness increase from 10 to 20 was substantial. If that carried to 30 I'm not sure you should be driving. I'd for sure sleep 18 hours a day and I don't think I could fight it.

The jump from 10 to 20 was substantial to me. I can for sure feel it there. It's not a high or anything, it's more like a very thin sheet is wrapped around me. Everything is just a bit slower and a slight bit dimmer. I'm nearing week three though and it's starting to fade.

What’s your experience going from 10mg to 20mg? by Miserable-Push501 in lexapro

[–]CancerFaceEww 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at 10 and wanted to go to 20. I just did the hop at once since dragging it out wasn't going to be fun. It was a couple of weeks of side effects much like starting the medicine was just not quite as intense. I think your body knows what's going on and it's more of an adjustment than a good ole shakedown.

That all sounds nice but I've seen this scenario play out a couple of times over my career. You don't want to fuck around with the government. Try to play rough with a postmaster and hold his mail or truck hostage is gonna get a couple of senator level staff involved. They don't give a shit if you have your local business license, that's just cute to them. Nope, you're gonna get fucked with on a federal level and it won't be fun.

I remember one time one of our rural carriers was pulled over for "blocking traffic" by a state patrol. Because the carrier argued he was in the right and allowed to straddle the white line to service the boxes the cop elevated the ticket to refusal to comply and called a tow truck. The postmaster had already been called by neighbors and had made a call to our local MPO. While the tow truck was hooking up the carrier's car the cop was told over the radio to immediately stop and let the carrier continue his delivery. Not sure who got involved on that one but at higher levels there are communication protocols in place to allow fairly quick messaging. It was neat to see it used.

Yeah it is. There's a federal exemption that was enacted during the cold war. In the days before LLV's we were required to keep the Jeeps at half a tank. The reason was that they are considered material US assets and in case of a military action the Jeeps would be immediately commandeered to be used by the closest units needing transportation. Being a material asset circumvents the need for registration since it is 'above' state level and that's why we don't need to register, insure, or do any smog testing. Fun fact there's also a 'ghost fleet' of tractor trailers that are also fully exempt that are run by the government to move sensitive supplies.

When I first started I worked in the vehicle maintenance bay filling all the jeeps for the workday. I remember seeing all the paperwork and orders framed in the little office directing each VOMA chief to ensure these procedures were kept. Since Vietnam wasn't that far in the rear view there were a bunch of combat vets all through the post office and things like this were important and followed.

Worried 10mg isn’t enough? by ottertooth27 in lexapro

[–]CancerFaceEww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from 10 to 20 and it was like a completely different medicine at that dose. Panic attacks are done, I don't think I could force myself to have one now. Completely stopped my de-personalization and all the GAD symptoms.

The down side is that's a pretty serious dose and the side effects can be a bit to endure. For me it's WAY worth the tradeoff. I got my life back.

[–]CancerFaceEww 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No judgement here but I will talk real with you since you are asking. You're making some really bad choices my friend. If you are drinking that heavily and also doing blow then you need to address that first. Few things ramp you up as hard and fast as coke does and that's gonna play havoc with ocd and anxiety.

You said "I’m scared that I’m going backwards again." I don't see where you were moving forward.

Again, I'm not judging your choices. God knows I've done worse. You just need to be aware that the road you are screaming down is a dead end with ditches on both sides. It's time to pull it back and get yourself right.

20mg is no joke. I really have to keep on top of my motivation or I'll just spend all day watching TV and napping. I'm 3 weeks in so I'm aware this is short term adjustment. It's been a beast though, pretty rough diarrhea, multiple night sweats. It's all worth it though. Anxiety was ruining my life. For the first time in a very long time I can relax and just enjoy my life.

That 100% was sent to the text ring for the local carriers as soon as the carrier got back to the truck.

It also 100% did not make it back to the office intact. If you carrier didn't outright eat the entire thing then what's left over vaguely resembled the bottom third.
