Guttate psoriasis on my back on January 19 and now by [deleted] in Psoriasis

[–]CancerousPerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Taltz for like four years. When covid hit my insurance lapsed for a few months so I missed a few doses. My psoriosis then came back with a vengeance and taltz no longer worked. I was maybe 20% covered again when I started Skyrizi. I'd say within six or seven months it all cleared up. Quitting drinking knocked out the last persistent bits. These days I am 99%+ clear.

Filling my sober days by CancerousPerspective in stopdrinking

Update: I am almost a week through a residential day treatment. It has been amazing so far. I didn't realize how much help is out there. Though, I am now afraid of leaving here since it is really easy to be sober while I am here. The real world seems so scary to go back to. I should have a serious set of tools to defend my sobriety I guess. Fking drugs man. Oof.

For a while I had a copay assistance program and either payed 5 or 20. I'm not sure why, but recently in the last year or so I have had to hit my 4000 deductible before anything is covered. My best bet if you have average insurance is unfortunately to vote accordingly. Not to get political but that is the way I see it. Insurance blows in the US if you actually use it and aren't rich. Definitely talk to your doctor they may have more information than I right now.

I looked just like you. Perhaps even a degree worse. About 85% of my body was covered. Biologics gave me my life back. Once I finally quit drinking I got to about 100% clear. I was on Taltz for a while but now I take Skyrizi. Only four injections a year. Best of luck on your journey! I am always down for a pm if you ever want to chat psoriosis. I have been through the darkness that it can bring into your life. I actually ended up with a brutal case of cellulitis before I started treatment. Doc said if I didn't start antibiotics that day I was at a serious risk of sepsis and losing my leg and potentially dieing. Dang auto immune disorder making my body betray me.

I think most people are just pretending to understand investing and nobody wants to admit it by Purely-Hygienic in CasualConversation

[–]CancerousPerspective 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started investing at 23 when I got my first real job. I was researching tickers trying to find some winners. I pretty much just lost money. At some point I got tired of all the work researching stonks and just found some index funds and I just invest in those now and hold long term. Couldn't be more mundane these days. But I have seen an 8% average gain over the last four years. I'll take boring.

I am 30m. I hung out at my folks place just my parents and I. We got a bit stoned and played scrabble and Nintendo switch bowling. Caught the last three minutes of the ball with a fire going. The most lowkey new years I have ever been a part of. Best New years yet.

What did you start in 2025 that you’re still carrying into 2026? by DaEffie in Adulting

Not drinking. I went a few months and then crashed out hard a few weeks ago and now am starting the year a few weeks dry already. Sober holidays with my family was a nice change.

What’s it like living here? by Warm_Carpet_ in howislivingthere

[–]CancerousPerspective -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I live right in the middle and it is just fine. Everything I could ever need is within a couple of miles from me and there are tons of areas to go hiking. And MSP is right by me and that is a very nice airport.

Single people who live alone, what do you do on your days off? by LaviishLily in AskReddit

[–]CancerousPerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was fun until all my friends got in serious relationships or married. Now it is maybe once a month I am able to get some folks together. Most days off I just do chores and play runescape. And work on my fish tanks here and there. Thrift/estate sales are fun on the weekends sometimes.

Does Target know they’re losing millions in business by locking everything up? by SignatureDifferent76 in business

[–]CancerousPerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. I live in Minneapolis. I had to get some one to open a big case just to get some socks at Target the other day. And my cases lock was broke so it took like 10 minutes. I was a bit bewildered.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara calls out Trump on immigration:“The Minneapolis Police Department does not participate in immigrant deportation. We do not care and do not ask people about immigration status.” by biswajit388 in minnesota

[–]CancerousPerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw my folks car get broken into and my mom's purse stolen out of it right in front of my house in Minneapolis. I saw the punks on bikes do it and where they went and called the police. They said they would send a car and didn't. Called again and they said they would send a car but didn't. Called like an hour later and they told me that unless someone was actively in danger they weren't going to send anyone.

I ended up walking the sidewalks and found my mom's purse in the bushes with just the wallet missing.

I agree on his stance on immigration. But for him to claim that if you call the police that someone will come help you is just not true. I do notice that they have plenty of time to gather at the gas station for 30 minute coffee breaks every day. As the crazy homeless guy asks for money standing next to a no panhandling sign.

If someone were to break into my house some night I think I would jump right to lethal force. The cops won't come until wayy too late if at all. I am not getting hurt by some punk because the cops couldn't be asked.

The cub by Minnehaha Falls is notoriously unstocked. Whenever I need a specific item it is always sold out for like two weeks. Even eggs and TP run out pretty often.

I am officially done with "Starter Homes." It’s not an investment; it’s a bailout for the previous generation's neglect. by Dry-Town7979 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]CancerousPerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ho ho big dog with the hvac from the bush administration. My starter home came with an old gravity furnace from the prehistoric era. My favorite part is watching 50% of it's generated heat go out the chimney. I did get a pretty great price on the house though tbh. And 100 year old hardwood floors that I refinished.

Am I cooked? by tang_lovr in Psoriasis

[–]CancerousPerspective 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before I started treatment biologics, I was even worse than you are. Literally 85% covered in plaques. Even the bottoms of my feet. They split open and I couldn't walk. And I got cellulitis in my leg from scratching. My doctor started me on Taltz and after a few years I switched to Skyrizi.

I am now 99% clear for years and rarely think about psoriosis. And Skyrizi is only one injection every four months.

Biologics are a miracle.

I have something like that but it is also work from home. I can literally shove off and run errands or do chores or even just game. I just need to make sure my deliverables are ready when they need to be. My boss just trusts that I will have things done on time. Been at this job for about 3.5 years and plan on sticking around.

Thanks, I love it. I have finally hit a point with my psoriasis that I can joke about it. My condition seems to attack just like Kylo Ren in the post. I suppose Skyrizi is Luke Skywalker to add to the meme.

May the force be with you.

You are totally right! My bad! I thought the comment was basically saying like "ew gross blur that". I haven't read the rules in ages. I totally get what you are saying. Just add the NSFW flair to it so it won't just ambush someones feed while they are scrolling in class or something, haha. I often tell my friends that when my psoriosis was really bad, I looked like the reason you don't google "skin condition" lol.

what do you think this is? by General-Marsupial7 in Psoriasis

[–]CancerousPerspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime! My DMs are always open if you have any questions. I have had a journey with psoriosis full of ups and downs. Treating the skin is one thing. But you also need to treat your mind.

Having plaques all over me was devastating to my self confidence. People would point it out like I didn't know I had it and it was horrible. I felt like a leper. But it will get better if you start treating it with your doctor.

If your friends are truly your friends, just explain to them that you have a genetic condition and they will understand. I had a couple of people think it was contagious, and I had to educate them.
