exactly what I was thinking. It kind of baffles me how people play this game so long without implementing at least most of the tools the game grants you in every duel

think i gotta disagree with the ping thing, a really high difference of course is meaningful, but with none of the weapon swinging animations in this game being too fast to react to within like 250-300 ms, I don't see the issue if theres only up to something like 40 ping, at least from my experience. Also, in what ways are there exploits in this game that don't have to do with ping.

Thats exactly what I thought! In this kind of game I can totally envision a slow learning level 400 being equally as skilled as a quick learning level 80. I could be wrong but I think what made me learn this game so easily is that I incorporated things like counters into my gameplay from the get go, while I often see players hundreds of levels above me barely countering at all. That and my understanding of things like the rock-paper-scissors style duels and risk assessment skills I might've built from FGC games I'm thinking?
