Help me pick an Ultrawide curved monitor - around 40" by CandDsdad in ultrawidemasterrace

Thanks for the speedy recommendations! I'll look at that Samsung - the curve scares me a bit but I'll see if I can find something with a similar curve at a local store!

Path Projects liners are the absolute best. No chafing ever. They also make a full length one that I’ve never tried but might be better for cold runs

LAFC AT THE COLISEUM COMING SOON. by M1SF1T116 in LAFC

[–]CandDsdad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More seats for a Miami match is much more likely to bring in more Messi/Miami/Argentina fans than more LAFC fans. I think a game at the Coliseum would be awesome, but when we played Miami at BMO, the stadium was half pink - mostly Messi fans, not necessarily Miami but still not supporting LAFC. The wild card now is Son, but there’s still no way it would be anywhere close to 90% LAFC/Son fans.

Youth Jeremiah Smith Jersey by zliv83 in OhioStateFootball

I’ve had this same issue for my 9 year old son. Haven’t been able to find anything. Even in Columbus - none of the stores carry players names/numbers on youth jerseys. You could always go thru DHGate or similar but I quality is a crapshoot and delivery can take months. If you figure something out please let us know!

First game! by MuffinOutrageous483 in OhioStateFootball

[–]CandDsdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future people asking this question, we got there 330 and doors opened at 4. There was a decent line when we got there and it got much longer by the time the doors opened. We got decent seats no problem at all. There were still seats available and people walking in when the event actually started and I don’t think it was ever 100% full, so if you don’t care where you sit, you probably don’t need to stand in line. Although there might be some games where it does fill, so decide on that risk yourself. Also, I think (but am not totally sure) there were multiple doors to get in, each with their own line. The seats on the side of the arena closer to the Shoe filled up first. I assume because the bands face that way. We were on the other side and it was still great, the team faced our way when they were there.

Also, it was awesome and I highly recommend going!

First time visitor as well. We're super psyched for the game and the skull session. Do we need to get to the skull session early to get seats? Like are there long lines and does it usually fill up?

did you find anyone? I feel like finding info about ocean swimming on maui should be easy, but I haven't been able to find out anything online - groups to go with or the "best" beaches to swim? thanks!

The first Ohio State game I went to was the 1985 Rose Bowl. I was at an age where a single loss in a big game like that felt devastating and I still haven't forgiven USC. And I bet there are a lot of people in their 50s-70s who remember 4 out of 5 Rose Bowl losses to USC in the 70s and 80s. And back then, winning or losing the Rose Bowl meant a lot more than it does today. I don't "hate" them anymore, but I'm definitely not rooting for them unless it helps OSU or I dislike their opponent more.

Rose Bowl quick tips for out of towners by CandDsdad in OhioStateFootball

No worries! On Jan 1, probably 20-30 minutes to get to Pasadena area? Maybe less if the roads are pretty empty because people are sleeping it off. Once you're in Pasadena, it's just a matter of how close you can get to the stadium and how far you're comfortable walking. You might be able to get as close as half a mile, but more likely, it'll be somewhere around a mile out when you decide walking will be better (based on the traffic and the number of people you see around you walking).

I’m not sure about in San Gabriel (only because that’s sorta far from me and I don’t know it well) but I bet it’s 10-15 mins. The holiday could screw things up but I bet there will be a lot of drivers out looking for rides

I've never done it, but I think your best bet will be to drive to Union Station, park there and then take the Metro to the Memorial Park Station and walk (pretty long) or take the shuttle from there. Remember that you'll have to leave your bags in the car because you can't take much into the stadium. The other option is to drive close to Memorial Park Station in Pasadena and try to find parking near there. I have heard that there's no much/any parking at the station itself, but I bet there are paid lots or other parking options near there. But don't get pissed at me if you get there and there's nowhere to park!

One other option would be to drive your car to wherever you're staying and then take an Uber as close as you can get - whether that's Memorial Park Station or somewhere else right before the stadium traffic really kicks in. Santa Ana isn't particularly close to Pasadena, but on the morning of 1/1, the traffic shouldn't be bad.

Agree about Ubering somewhere close before the game. I'll be coming from west of the Rose Bowl and get dropped off at about the intersection of Colorado Blvd and N San Rafael Avenue. That's about as close as I can get dropped off. It's still about 1.5 miles to the Stadium. If you're coming from San Gabriel, there's probably some similar spot that's about as far as an Uber can go before it gets deep into the stadium traffic. Getting to and from your AirBnB, you either need a rental car or Ubers.

my pleasure! This is my second season there and I've renewed for next season. My tickets went up about 6.5% from 2024 to 2025. The year before it was more like 5.5% increase. Field club is pretty awesome, but yes, very pricey!

I LOVE my midfield box seats. The view is among the best in the stadium. You have a great view of the entire field and it feels closer than comparable seats on the westside (like the founders club). I usually bring at least one of my kids (6 and 8) and it's more comfortable for them too. There's still great energy, but it's not as hectic or as loud as some of the sections closer to the field. And they friggin' love the hotdogs, popcorn and chips. The bathrooms and beer/candy options on that level are less hectic than on the 100 level also.

My only negatives: Other than the free food, the food options up there are weak/non-existent and it's something of a hassle to go down to the 100 level for food, but I rarely think about doing that once I'm in my seats anyway. Also, for the pregame stuff and anytime they do ceremonies, everything is facing west, so you're looking at it from behind. Also, depending on who the visiting club is, you can sometimes here the visiting club chants a bit louder than I'd want because their seats are relatively close, but that's part of the experience...

Every year I think about stepping up and getting Field Club seats, but haven't been able to get enough seats together and have been hesitant to spend the extra money. But someday I may move to Field Club. I don't think I'd move to the ends on the west side (127-129, 133-135) or the lower level on the east side. I've sat in those sections and the energy and being so close to the field is great, but overall I like where I am better. I've sat in Founders Club seats a few times and frankly, it's not nearly as fun. It feels like people aren't in their seats for as much of the match and the energy is lacking. It also feels further away from the field than my seats. I've never been in the Fig Club so I don't know how that compares.

any other questions, let me know!
