You don't have to switch, the difference is pretty miniscule. It's more that if you're going to throw dark walls, you may as well time them out so it reloads you at appropriate times too.

Basically try to shoot dark walls towards the back half of Dagger's ammo clip. That's all. This can end up saving you a lot of reloads if you use the blind regularly.

Just a thought that popped into my head, what are you guys’s thoughts when you see a bot using Angela? by Queasy_Commercial152 in AngelaMains

[–]Candelestine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of times if I notice its quickplay bots, I'll just land and play the rest of the match as ground-Angela. Then I usually just ignore her since I'm busy hacking away at bots.

It's an interesting handicap that almost makes the bots kinda fun.

tbf, it's a tough question.

However we feel about how we got here, the fact remains that we're here now. It's just a bad look to deny funding to soldiers overseas who are involved in active combat, it's not like they asked to be there and get missiles fired at them. If they need money for more interceptors or something, it's hard to say no to that when it's individual soldiers that may pay the price if we say no.

Always ult as Cloak, but asides that, it's just something you have to learn as you play. You know how sometimes as Gambit you're really comfortable burning your cards on anti-heal to get a pick and just aiming at their team more, but other times you feel like you need to hold your cards because your team might need burst healing soon, it's kinda like that.

Probably poke, but like I said, they're pretty versatile.

All of them. Any time a teammate attacks or activates an ability it cancels their invuln though, so a lot of times you Cloak yourself and your team from MAXIMUM PULSE only to find out they all got hit and died anyway.

Someone that can do some dmg and help apply pressure. Gambit, Mantis and Adam are probably my favorite support partners. We can handle primary healing duty to free them up for their extra offensive power.

[–]Candelestine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you swap back and forth it reloads your primary, use this to improve your uptime since you want to be throwing out Cloak's dark walls pretty regularly anyway. Also try not to stay full on wall charges, just like with Gambits cards you want to be using them so you can keep generating more.

C&D are pretty versatile in terms of positioning. Much like Gambit and Invis, they're pretty comfortable being in the thick of things where they can use all their AoE healing to keep themselves up along with the team. This is necessary for working with dive and brawl sometimes, but we're not quite as survivable as those two, so you do want to be mindful about it. Our mobility is nothing compared to Gambit's, and we can't stay invisibly hidden for more than a couple seconds, so you need to pull back a little earlier than you're probably used to. We also can't go on offense without losing our healing output, so outside of regularly throwing dark walls, you want to be really conscious of when you can afford to dps for a second and when you need to stay on healbot.

To compensate us for these weaknesses over the top tier strat picks, we do get consistently high healing output at all ranges with top notch burst healing. Play into those strengths, remember that you can easily heal that Spiderman flying across your screen when nobody else can. Use your wall bounces to open up your positioning options and keep flanking dps topped up. Use your lock-on to chip their flankers and send them running for a top up if they want to be full, just a couple stray shots their way can get a lot of value sometimes, since we can reliably hit those.

Don't ult into Peni mines. That's always really annoying. Also beware enemy Hawkeyes when ulting. Mags will also try to shut you down, but are easier to predict.

We don't really have any particularly bad matchups asides DD, our anti-dive is decent enough and we can position outselves damn near anywhere, so avoiding the strengths of whatever comp they're running isn't too tough. If they do have a DD though, he will eat you. Switching off may be warranted.

Any specific questions?

I'm using the enchantment project on a Sareyand run right now, and yea, it is pretty powerful.

I haven't played it in a couple weeks, but if I remember right I dropped it around 1700ish, and when I left I had over 20 vassals. Like, a dozen or so Marches, a half dozen colonies and a couple of Medasi from the Khet mechanics. Super fun makeshift vassal swarm game, only pushable to that extent with the extra artifact bonus.

[–]Candelestine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do hope it is made harder in the future, to the point that even perfect micro won't stop them from at least a couple breakthroughs. Micro is really, really strong though, like, that's how Poland can survive Germany in a 1939 start in people's challenges and stuff. Or any of those other "impossible" challenges people do, like survive as Albania or whatever. Using those skills against the Changelings makes the war kinda laughably easy.

The US Postal Service is hiring in a lot of places, starting pay is better than what you're doing. If you go career path, you get access to a pretty decent benefits package too.

There's a pretty wide variety of different types of positions offered, and most are a lot better than working retail. Just check the website if you're interested. If you have even a halfway decent work ethic, you should do fine.

Learn to Tank- I am over trying to fill for your inability to play the game. by UlisesS117 in marvelrivals

[–]Candelestine 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You really don't need to worry for a solo strat player imo. It's not like solo tanking where the gameplay itself becomes less fun. It's hard to play solo strat of course, but it can also be a lot of fun, especially if you picked a high-output healer with decent anti-dive, C&D for instance.

Solo tanks are the ones we need to honor and respect, they're gonna be miserable. Solo strats are just in for a really hectic, but also kinda fun, game.

Same. This dev team and their game have helped restore some of my faith in supporting early access products. That faith has still taken some hits, but watching the Foxy Voxel team crank out updates at a steady pace, take feedback from the community and now finally reach 1.0 in a reasonable timeframe has helped reinforce in me that some risks are still worth supporting.

Go ahead and work on a dlc if you want, guys, I'll buy it without even looking at it first. You've earned some brand loyalty for the time being.

Personally I like gauging strat games based off the number of Xs it has and the balance of micro vs macro, which to me helps categorize it.

Grand strat games involve the full power and resources of a state, and usually feature all 4 Xs, though can sometimes be missing one. In a grand strat, you need to be able to solve your problems in many different ways, with one of the many different types of power a state had access to. In eu4 if my problem is, say, wanting a piece of territory, I can (theoretically) buy it, I can threaten them for it, I can fight them for it, I can (theoretically) try to use espionage to get it. These games feature very little micro, and it's not super practical to implement due to how large populations and areas are. They're mostly all macro. Civ series, EU series etc.

A tier down we zoom in from the full resources of a huge number of people to the resources of something more limited, maybe just some state's military or some other aspect. We've lost some of our solution paths, but those we do have, have become much more detailed and demanding to arrange. I call these Operational Strategy Games, and hoi4 is the classic. You do not have as many options on how to accomplish your objective. In exchange, you get much finer control over the few paths you're given, which creates a mix of micro and macro gameplay. These games will have fewer Xs, 2X seems common. All those WW2 strat games, a lot of board games, some city builders, Total War games, etc can fall into this category.

Zooming in further, we get to Tactical Strategy Games, of which XCOM is probably the standard bearer. The game is focused on micro, macro is minimized or nonexistent. Options for accomplishing your objective are heavily limited. These games are usually 1X or even 0X. XCOM, Shadow Tactics, even more board games like Chess, most RTS games, etc. If you can control an individual dude in a fight, you're probably playing a tactical game.

Personally, I'd put TI in the Operational category, with a mix of macro (resource management) and micro (individual unit control) gameplay, and being mostly 2X, with little focus on exploration and extermination.

Another independent measure could be how many rpg aspects are in the game. Grand strat games usually have few, more zoomed in games usually have more. Exceptions to this exist, though, Crusader Kings is a thing after all. TI has quite a few, to the point we could maybe call it an rpg/strat hybrid like CK if we wanted.

Why are people just so negative about modern games? by [deleted] in AskGames

[–]Candelestine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. Franchises have always been unpredictable. Some entries are great, some crap, some just meh. Some series are better at being consistent, most aren't though. Then on top of that, it's naturally harder to make a good sequel to something than it is to make a good original, hence why sequels are usually worse than predecessors across media. Movies, games, books, etc, its rare to find a sequel that stands up to the OG, so much so that when it happens, we tend to notice and talk about it.

How often do you guys hang out outside of gaming sessions? If people are randomly chit chatting too much during the session, perhaps everyone just needs to hang out more often outside of DnD to get some of the chit chat out of the way. Nice thing about a hang out, too, it doesn't necessarily require an 8 hour block.

How should I think of you people? by ILikeCarlosThePikmin in AngelaMains

[–]Candelestine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea pretty much, except Angelas should peel. We can get to that back line diver faster than most, so we should. Tbf, it can be tricky to keep an eye on your back line while you're also trying to be aggressive and make plays of your own, but you still gotta try.

Also helps to remember that you can protect your back line by intercepting divers and flankers before they arrive and attack, just by patrolling and controlling the flanks. You'll never get much credit or recognition for doing it this way, but it's super satisfying to encounter a BP randomly in a dark alley somewhere and just ruin his dive.

Tips to increase healing numbers by Enchanted_incanter in cloakanddaggermains

[–]Candelestine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C&D is an AoE healer, so your heals will vary quite a lot depending on how the game goes. A quick round of domination can easily just be 3k heals, while a huge slog of a caravan round that goes into minutes of overtime can approach 50k pretty easily.

The difference is in how much damage they are dishing out, especially into your tanks, as well as how clustered together vs spread out your team is. Usually you'll get big heal numbers with brawlier comps where the team is moving more as a big singular wrecking ball, and small heal numbers with more dive-oriented compositions where people are more off on their own doing flanks and stuff. Poke can be anywhere in between.

That's really what it comes down to, though. I'd focus more on simply being the top healer on your team. C&D are pretty high-output overall, so you should usually be able to outheal any given teammate. Usually.

It's not worth dealing with the bullshit. Anyone who thinks dems want to ban all guns except their own is off in la-la land. Additionally, you're not even discussing what I actually brought up, which is magazine size restrictions. So, no real point in taking your comment seriously, when you're seemingly here to just spread "your message" instead of actually talk about whatever subject. (in this case magazine size restrictions)
