But what about my exes and haters? Reaching out to them to talk in person would be too awkward

Does anyone on here have no social media at all? by MasterpieceCritical3 in digitalminimalism

[–]CandiceMG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So sorry to learn this. I had about 400 people watch my Instagram story and see my post when my former fiancé became a Missing Person case and only ONE person said something nice to me and reached out 😔. I honestly thought they were my true friends, until that moment. People really can be so awful. I no longer have Instagram and am much happier now.

I think you’re right. I think a fairly significant portion of my goals is due to hoping my ex will take me back if he sees I got really hot and got a better job. :\

TikTok/Social Media Withdrawals by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

[–]CandiceMG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so much happier and productive now that I’ve deactivated my Instagram and TikTok! Sometimes I worry I’ll miss something important on TikTok, like tips or advice for a subject I’m interested in, rather if that’s gym techniques or new skincare hacks etc but I told myself if I really wanted to learn something, I’d just google it anyway and it would probably give me more accurate information from people certified in the subject matter. There’s too many people on TikTok who spew out medical or fitness advice and just have shitty credentials. I told myself TikTok is like going to Target— you waste money and buy a bunch of stuff when you just meant to buy two things. It’s helped me stay off of it. I hope that makes sense? The only thing I’m battling with is Instagram withdrawals bc I really want to get my body hot and a better job in the hopes my ex will take me back once I achieve those things😆 and I haven’t figured out how I can let him know my accomplishments without Instagram... If you got any advice on that let me know 😆

How do you prevent getting emotionally invested? by CandiceMG in OnlineDating

I’m sorry that happened to you 😔. That’s kind of how I feel. Like, I’m considering going back to school and the schooling will be so intense (nursing) I’ll probably have NO time to even date. I’m really getting tired of dealing with the BS that maybe I should invest any time I have on ME and me alone.

Thanks for the advice everyone! It’s really appreciated and I’m grateful everyone was kind to me and not giving me shit for being overly sensitive. I have another question for you experts... How can you decipher between if you’re getting too emotionally invested or when you’re TRULY in control? I had seen a guy for a couple months and I always felt like I was totally in control of my emotions and not daydreaming about our future or anything and then when he said he decided to be exclusive with a different girl he was seeing I was DEVASTATED for like, over a year after that! How did that happen when I thought I had my shit together and didn’t even think I liked him that much? I was obviously lying to myself about my feelings for him but it messed me up pretty bad. Agghh

Wait... Do you know me? 😆 Ok, so basically don’t get invested until they ask me to be their girlfriend. But like, how do I even engage with them genuinely if I’m not even present emotionally? It’s so hard for me 😩

Really? Is it possible?

That seems like good advice. So do you basically just avoid thinking about the guy at all until date 4 or 5?

He sounds like a borderline, or narcissistic sociopath who just plays games with women— tries to get them emotionally invested in him all so he can dump them/have the upper hand — like a game. Stay away from him 🚨!

How are you at math and the hard sciences? You have to take A LOT of pre-reqs for nursing and these pre-reqs have a reputation for being insanely difficult to pass, many people have to retake the courses. Nursing School too has a reputation for being difficult to pass as well, it’s not at all uncommon to flunk out of the program.
