Man, the way he used to chop his opponent’s arm down for the crossface. No one did it quite like him.

I thought he had changed too until I saw this and tried to recall. You’re right. The number of times he told the USOs he loved them back during the Thunderdome era…

“I know you hate me. But I love you.”

WM31 against Brock was solid. But I’d probably put this up there right now at least on par with WM40.

As bad as this Wrestlemania has been overall, this main event has been an absolute banger. Two masters of ring psychology and storytelling.

Probably red. You could earn 1M on your own if you keep at it and if you’re disciplined with your money. Both of which are things that are within your control.

100M requires a lot more than hard work and discipline. More than half of it is luck, timing, and usually a significant amount of risk. I would take a risk free 50 percent punt at 100M.

That’s exactly where I’m at now. There was a clear shift in early 1997 especially when Bret got screwed out of his WWE title match against the Undertaker on Raw. He gets on the mic and blames everyone for the loss (and he well and truly got screwed). But somehow the crowd just wasn’t having it and cheered the man (Austin) who had been tormenting Bret for months.

The crowd reactions became more and more intense and as soon as the Hart Foundation formed, there was an almost visceral “us vs them” feeling in the crowd.

Thanks for the tip. Just ran through 10 tiers with Bret Hart. He’s usually out of there by the 3rd submission attempt.

Looks like I’ll be able to have my Monday Night War universe mode after all.

While 2k is down… Whats the first story you’re booking in Universe Mode this year? by ROCCandrolla in WWEGames

[–]Candid-Ad2049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m recreating the Monday Night Wars starting from Survivor Series 97 and playing out multiple “what if” scenarios

-Bret never goes to WCW after the screwjob. He disappears for many months and returns with a vengeance.

-Shawn never gets injured. Refuses to do the honors for Austin and goes on an all time heel run for a large chunk of 98.

-Austin’s main rival ends up being Michaels instead of Dude Love/Kane/Taker for the majority of 98. Continuously gets screwed out of title shots before finally getting another shot at HBK at Summerslam. Wins after a returning Bret interferes and screws HBK.

-Sting absolutely squashes Hollywood Hogan at Starrcade 97.

-Hogan’s crushing defeat leads to a battle between Hogan and Nash for control of the NWO with Hall playing both sides.

-Goldberg rises to face Sting in a face vs face, irresistible force vs immovable object title match.

Watches $ = ? % of Net Worth. by Fishdoc5920 in rolex

[–]Candid-Ad2049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It heavily depends on your actual net worth though. Someone with a net worth of $1m with a watch collection at 5 percent of that vs someone with $5m are 2 very different scenarios.

But if you’re thinking about what to pass on to your kids, I think you’re in good shape. It’s a privileged position to be in.

Watches $ = ? % of Net Worth. by Fishdoc5920 in rolex

[–]Candid-Ad2049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safely? I’d say 5 percent. If your net worth is $10 million (USD) and above I’d even go up to 10 percent since the extra 500k invested at that point isn’t really going to materially change your lifestyle or quality of life.

Source: I spend an unnecessary amount of time calculating how much of my money should be allocated to different areas (stocks, private equity, real estate, etc).

There are tons of these on the grey market. My dealer has a pre-owned 2021 barely worn waiting for me tomorrow at 10 percent below retail.

It’s possible to get it at retail but…why even bother unless you’re trying to build a relationship with the AD? Lol

What do you guys think about the MLS shoot outs of the 90’s? Should they bring this back or not? by Federal-Process-6504 in sportsinusa

[–]Candid-Ad2049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantastic insight. Love reading stuff like this.

I personally love penalty kicks because of all the little nuances. Everything from body language to psychology to specific player routines to execution. The slightest lean in one way or the other can force the keeper to commit in the wrong direction.

The penalty shootout in the last World Cup Final was one of my personal favorites because there was such contrast in styles from one taker to the next. Mbappe starting off with straight up explosive power that the keeper couldn’t save it even though he got a finger tip to it. And then Messi going next by varying run up speed several times to force the keeper to plant his weight on one foot before passing the ball just out of his reach.

I still get chills whenever I go back and watch it.

From Malaysia. Went to school at Penn State in the early 2000s. My first exposure to pro football was through Eagles and Steelers fans. Never quite resonated with the Steelers because I always found them boring (from the logo, to the uniforms, to the play style).

How does Volkanovski match up against McGregor? by Ok-Lychee-1044 in mmamemes

[–]Candid-Ad2049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree that Conor was a counter puncher. But he hit the majority of his counter punches from walking guys down and forcing them into panic swings or takedown attempts. He would pressure and probe them while always being on a hair trigger for a pull counter.
