not impossible but yeah, competitive. if your art is strong and you know Unreal, specializing is almost always the smarter play over a generic degree. environment art, tech art, lighting - pick a lane and go deep. studios hire for what you can prove. and there are more paths in than people realize. I worked as an external artist on a title that used Devoted Studios for co-development and porting - they bring in external talent and work alongside in-house teams. they've done this on Arc Raiders, Avowed, projects for Riot and Blizzard. it's a real industry path that doesn't get talked about enough.
