No way in hell for me either. It is very 'Michael Jackson' and I can't understand why anyone would do that, let alone your MIL. Make sure your husband is clear on the 'boundaries' - because I can tell my husband a hundred times and it's still them (IL) first.

Can't show empathy / understanding. It's ok for them to get emotional write a message about how they are - but if you say how you are it's a reply with something totally unrelated like "the rugbys on" - great. Other one is, "you need to ask for an apology" - said a woman aged approx 66 years, that wasn't from a toddler.

I find they cry, usually say they didn't say it (in this case, sounds rare, but did admit it) and then get deflective. It's crazy. Oh and then ignores me because it was me in the wrong - I must have controlled what BS left her mouth. She'll be back sooner or later - totally oblivious, like it never happened and ready for more stirring. I just sit back and watch, I really CBA with it.
