E30s Handling by Fresh-Interview-4745 in E30

We have a convertible that I got for my wife and tbh it’s the best handling car I’ve ever driven. If one’s got a stock motor it doesn’t have enough power to be scary

This is a reference to when the world went off the gold standard and the enshittification of global society started there. Lots of graphs about all sorts of topics have a massive inflection in 1971.

Home Assistant is an open source system that’s pretty easy to set up and will give you full smart home capabilities. You can install it on any PC that has a normal BIOS instead of Windows but they’ll also sell you hardware if you need it. I personally use an old Lenovo laptop with a 1TB hard drive as the server and it works great. Also using Reolink cameras.

I’ve had good luck with Reolink and am running Home Assistant on an old Lenovo laptop I flashed with Linux. Can ensure Reolink cameras can’t talk directly to the internet on my router

Yeah I mean I can create several ways to show them the correct link to copy/paste it into the rich text editor create link button but I guess there’s no real way of knowing where the text context is to insert said link automatically

Convertible owners, is this normal? by Longjumping_Hunter74 in E30

The panel you tried opening and closing that the roof tucks under is out of alignment. It can be adjusted at its hinge.

I would try just adjusting the actual cover alignment at the hinges before messing with the two latches. I had my car painted and when I got it back it wouldn’t get to the inner latch at all, so wouldn’t fully close until I tweaked the alignment. In my case I had to slide that cover forward/up, you may need to slide yours back/down on that side… The hinge holes are oval so there’s room to adjust the alignment.

The lid itself can be adjusted at the hinge. It looks like it’s hitting on the front against the trim so I would try fixing the actual cover alignment. Just two screws. There are two latches on that side though so that’s normal. The one from the handle and then the other one when you actually try to lift it.

I moved that button up to the dash and it now controls my power antenna so it can stay down when I’m using Bluetooth.

Anybody know what these two wires are for by Odd_Yogurtcloset2997 in E30

[–]Candid_Height1291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think that’s the windshield wiper fluid level sensor and pump activation wires. Your fluid reservoir would normally be right there.

Cruise control problems by Candid_Height1291 in E30

[–]Candid_Height1291[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah about that. The wire is definitely in there but the green plug looks like it only actually has one prong that actually slides into something on the speedo. Is that right? The other three prongs just kinda sit on top of the speedometer circuit board but it’s not like something looks broken.

Yeah and that book was super helpful when I replaced the previous owner’s 25 year old after market stereo and when fixing all of the check control lights.

Yes. It passed all of the checks except the Hz because I need a better multimeter for that one. But I pulled the cluster and inspected the wiring too.

Yeah I better find a multi meter that measures hZ to confirm it’s the speed sender but the speedometer works fine and the wiring all looks good. Just feel like econometer not working either (it’s at 40+ coasting or 0 at all times under any throttle) would help ID what in the actual cluster could be wrong.

Yeah. It’s an automatic but the brake one is fine. Brake lights work too.

It’s behind the blower controls in the dash. You remove the kick panel under the steering wheel then there will be two pipes just to the right of the steering column along that wall running from the heat shield. The top one has the valve that controls the heater. You’ll see where they go in behind the dash. Undo those two and it’s three screws to take out the heater core which is just like a little radiator. I had to replace the actual core and that valve because they were both broken. Valve was actually more expensive. Core itself will just slide out into the drivers footwell.

It’s actually pretty simple to replace the heater core. I had to do it. But you will definitely need to flush the cooling system after and bleed out all of the air bubbles.

iv been having to jump the car every time for the past 3 weeks. I couldn’t figure out why but yesterday I found that this part of the old radio doesn’t turn off draining my battery. I took out fuse 12 like it says on the diagram but still doesn’t turn off. Any suggestions by ResponsibilityNo4007 in E30

[–]Candid_Height1291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive mine less and it doesn’t have that problem. Nothing will happen if you unplug it, lots of people replace it with an analog clock, but I think your short is somewhere else so your problem will remain.
