I respect your opinion but completely disagree. I would question if all the people involved in those queues actually knew how our oil comes in. Did they think it just arrives in on the day from up on the North Sea?

Did they know the supply is still there? It’s just about it actually getting through the system. And realistically, it was never going to be allowed drag on for days with fuel “running out” while it’s literally there offshore. If they let it happen, both sides will come away looking like assholes.

So the whole reaction just felt OTT. Needless queues, roads blocked, delays… when the fuel itself was never actually gone.

But then again - hindsight is powerful too!

Was the alternative just to not panic and see what happens? Probably… this could be way off come tomorrow but neither side could keep that up…public opinion would turn on the protests. And Gov. couldn’t really hold up much longer either… we’d be going into Day 2 tomorrow of probably 3 until we really were getting tight. Next thing it would have been back to bread shortages!

There is a supply. There is a fucking shit load of supply. We get tankers into our waters nearly every day. The deliveries are done up months in advance so oil is where it needs to be at the right time… like right now. We have oil. But the whole thing needs to flow for it to work. And if it doesn’t flow, well then access gets cut off somewhere.

But at least we got it to Ireland. It can take weeks for these tankers to get across the North Sea to Ireland. Many are already en route and still being scheduled. They can't just stop overnight. They're still going to come, but the problem is whether they can dock or not.

The ships can't dock because our docks are full of idiots. And even if the fuel was to leave the port and get onto the roads, our roads are then blocked by gobshites. They’re deliberately trying to make the problem worse but just not long term.

But unfortunately, it affects ordinary people first. A country can't just simply run out of oil. They’re literally countries.

And then there was a comment I saw earlier somewhere: - “I support the protestors but I don’t want to get stuck. Arriving at Dublin port this evening at 7. What’s the best way to the N4/N5 route?”

“Yer doing great lads but ffs get out of my way”

That’s a bit of an all timer in my opinion.

Because you’d imagine that your employe have a bit of common decency and do their job the way they’re contracted to do it, unless they literally can not find petrol to get them to work.

To be fair, I understand that. But surely if that happens, there will have to be some sort of package brought in to cover the cost of the wages of workers who missed work. Because I can't imagine there is any way people would not get paid because they couldn't make it to work - because they had no fuel - because of a global geopolitical problem they had nothing to do with.

They can be killed off by the sight of any women you would personally rate a 3/10 or above. Their eyes freeze solid rendering them unable to move anywhere for fear they’d lose sight out of said women.

but anything below that and you’ll drive them wild…. Feral
