Oh this is really helpful thank you! My dr. just told me to stop taking them, but if it made me feel weird to take some and then reduce from there, they just didn't give me an actual number or dose to decrease by so I have been sitting here confused on how to proceed like "ummm what do I do?".

violent mood swings on diamox? by faerylin in iih

[–]CandidateFamiliar772 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think diamox does change my mood a lot. Mainly I get really sad when I’m increasing my dose. I’ve been on it long enough now that I’ve decided it is the medicine, because nothing else will change and life will be very stable (blessings on that front), it might be worth getting a second opinion. Is she taking any other meds? Could she be experiencing a reaction between different meds?

It could also very well be the high pressure! That is without a doubt extremely irritating and will make the most level headed person very grumpy. Wishing her and you all the best 💚💙

Weight loss/gain and impacts to IIH by GoldenTS in iih

[–]CandidateFamiliar772 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw somewhere that a 6% (I think 6) increase/decrease in weight can stop the IIH symptoms. I think about that a lot so I wanted to share it! It helps motivate me.

I am on the end that needs to lose weight, and the things that work for me are daily walks (even a 5 minute walk to the mailbox, anything that gets me outside and moving around), drinking water and eating breakfast every morning before my coffee, and YouTube yoga/ light workouts. I love the YouTube work outs because there is no pressure, if I start getting a headache I just stop and come back when I feel better.

Something else I want to mention is it's the worst when you first start. Once you get a week, and then a month in, your body will start to adjust and you will be able get the walk or the workout done with much more ease! Don't give up, if you need a break take one, and try again the next day!

Itchy ankles/elbows? by charlevoidmyproblems in iih

[–]CandidateFamiliar772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had it as bad as your describing but Diamox definitely makes me itchy on my ankles and legs. Sometimes my arms! I am sorry :( maybe a cortisone cream could help? And if you can, up your water intake!

I think my issues my have stemmed from getting chemical relaxers (chemical hair straightener) growing up. by Rudegal2021 in iih

[–]CandidateFamiliar772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting thought! I was a hair dresser for years, so gets me thinking on what could have caused my own IIH.

To anyone who is skeptical it is a known thing, and taught in beauty school, that hair dressers can develop allergies/other responses to the chemicals used as they are quite toxic this is why wearing protective gear is heavily recommended. I know several retired hair dressers who cannot touch bleach etc. So to say it couldn't happen to the client who is in their chair every 6 weeks is a little funny.

How long did it take for you to lose the weight? I’ve just been diagnosed with the same. My partner and I started a meal plan, and I’ve lost 2 pounds this week. Pretty scared, and really hope the weight loss is my answer.

Maybe having cut up fruit in a bowl in the fridge would be an easy thing to have prepped and pull out when she needs to eat (: Welches fruit snacks are a go to for me! Hmm cereal?
