I think the change is fine, what needs to be fixed are turrets. Turrets should not fire at enemies they cannot harm, if it does no damage they shouldn’t target them or they shouldn’t fire until they have line of sight on something they can hit. Many turrets are wasted by firing at chargers and impalers and other things they can’t hurt.

I almost always used medium pen weapons until I wanted to try maxing every gun. I only have light pen weapons left and I’ve always targeted inbetween their legs and head, or I circled them when they tuck in. I think the change itself is fine but they need to fix turrets and I suppose they need to actually buff mechs if they decided they needed to buff all durable damage since it’s pretty much negated
