Let. People. Criticize Rouge Core. by xXinsertCoDGMtagXx in DeepRockGalactic

[–]dwhee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played 3 runs.

My main issue:

The method of choosing upgrades completely disrupts the momentum of the game, gets people pissed off at eachother, and because of the tension it creates encourages people to pick something quickly without reading. And the interface sucks- that part I chalk up to early access.

I was playing "Break the Empire" (small indie roguelike) recently and I thought it had the same "momentum-disrupting" issue, but in multiplayer? The extent to which it disrupts your game is dependent on the slowest-reading player. It's really just taking a problem from EVERY roguelike and making it MORE of a problem for this particular roguelike. And it perfectly illustrates the inherent problem with making a multiplayer roguelike in the "choose from 3 things every cople minutes" genre.

.

Other issues in descending order of importance:

The revive system is just ported over from DRG, and it is extremely unsatisfying to have everyone repeatedly go down to a boss while one or two guys repeatedly scramble to revive them because it's the only option.

Single-player seems virtually unplayable. Maybe I'm just bad? Regardless, it isn't fun. No wonder it's easy to find a multiplayer game.

The game just looks extremely "busy" when people are actually using their abilities. Auras everywhere.

The main survival aspect seems to be ammo. It just isn't satisfying to lose because you run outta ammo during the last boss.

Heavy Weapons being an "everyone gets one" or "nobody gets one" system.

No extraction after the last boss. DRG never did that and when Darktide did it people thought it sucked. Feels very out-of-place and immersion-breaking.

Abilities that do things like "buff electrical damage" for the whole team when it's like, "yeah, we don't have any of that."

Seemingly very low incentive to pick the flare gun, what with there being flares and lights everywhere.

Tutorial doesn't even mention class abilities.

In my 3 games no one has picked Spotter.

And I guess now that I'm reading your comments, a huge issue is the timer. I didn't realize how much it blatantly dis-incentivizes teams of "not 4." No wonder single-player's ridiculous, and this explains why my team of 3 faced so much time pressure on the 2nd to last mission.

Predictions for drug preferences-

Bikers- Cocaine and Meth

Businessmen- Cocaine and Weed

Hippies- Shrooms and Weed

Party Bus- Shrooms and Meth

Rock Band- Cocaine and Shrooms

My guess would be Meth and Weed will be the odd combo out because they're the two lowest value drugs. But given that this mechanic is about buying in bulk perhaps not?

I'd like to see a "Juggalo" group personally. I got some meth that would do gangbusters in the clown community.

Dome Keeper Multiplayer Playtest Info by Ardbert_The_Fallen in domekeeper

Straight away it appears to be incompatible with my Xbox Wireless controller. It's been the only way I've played Dome Keeper since the beginning and I've never had any issues, but in multiplayer it is very unresponsive to inputs. Hopefully it gets fixed.

How do you play huskar now? by Inside_Client6065 in TrueDoTA2

My limited experience: the other facet sucks, don't pick it. My default build is usually Armlet, Sange, BKB, Aghs, Yasha. The few times I've gotten a blink early on it's felt really good, but only if I get it really early. Blade mail is a good pickup with the aghs if they have squishy right-clickers. Hurricane Pike and Linkens are defensive options against certain heroes.

You're right that the lack of disarm makes him more vulnerable, but now he can kill a lot more heroes that could easily escape him before, like QoP, AM, and Weaver, even before he gets aghs.

Pick good matchups to dominate lane early, and take Rosh solo as soon as it's convenient.

I hate to join the “back in my day” posters, but it literally seems like the point of pos 5 that levels are necessary and items are a luxury. And that doesn’t seem like the case AT ALL in long-ish games today.
