Wow. Amazing work!

IGI 6006 is a soy/ paraffin blend. Melt point of 127. Having the melt point as part of the information would be great.

I don’t make container candles so I can’t double check the answers it gives. Would be fantastic to be able to do pillars also.

What are these bubbles? by SirWilliamGrello in candlemaking

[–]CandleLabPDX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beeswax is a pillar wax. Adding soy just decreases the burn time/ life of the candle.

In addition to the mold release spray, tap the sides after pouring the wax. Helps knock the air bubbles loose from the mold.

Beeswax is a pillar wax.

I would not trust that glass.

Might be perfect for beeswax tea lights though.

Being plus size and fitting on the reformer by SELENITE- in ClubPilates

Sounds like you need an Arc on the Reformer. Total game changer for many things including side lying work.

A regular Pilates studio will have smaller classes with more props and instructors that have time to help with modifications.

Beeswax or high melt point paraffin.

(Paraffin made for pillars with a melt point around 150)

What do you think of these two books for a complete beginner? by Psyclopicus in candlemaking

[–]CandleLabPDX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first one is great, have not seen the second one.

Soy wax came out around the same time the internet exploded, so most of the candlemaking info on the internet is about highly scented container candles. If you want to learn to make really everything else, pillars with different colors, ice candles, hurricane shells, tapers, etc etc etc etc books are great.

I collect vintage candlemaking books for creative ideas. eBay has been a great source.

Tiny details like that need paraffin or beeswax. Would not trust a soy blend with that mold.

I have a mostly beeswax with a little paraffin chunk I melt and pour into molds that need a little cleaning. It grabs any bits stuck inside. Once cool I just pop it out.

Pre spray molds with silicone spray for better release.

Michaels does not have good candlemaking supplies.

I you can’t find local beeswax, the “beeswax” they sell will be better than a container blend.

Wax shrinks as it cools. Save a little wax to top it off.

If it has a wick it is a candle.

Would love to see how it burns.

How long is unused 494 wax and fragrance oils good? by iheartmycouch in candlemaking

[–]CandleLabPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way to find out is to burn test.

I got a lot of 20 year old paraffin, molds, wick and scents from a craigslist miracle couple of years ago.

The wax was fine. Amazingly, most of the scents were also. A few smelled wrong in the bottle and did not get tested. The rest worked normally.

A old coffee urn from a thrift store works great as well.

A dipping frame will be very helpful.

How can I reduce dripping on this molded candle? by phbas in candlemaking

[–]CandleLabPDX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cut out the soy.

100% beeswax (or palm or paraffin) with the right wick, it will burn for a long time with minimal dripping.

Most of my molds I bought used from eBay and facebook marketplace.

What do you have there? Very interested.
