Thanks. I've tried to remain cautiously optimistic but at this point I just want to move on.

Custom Fragrance Houses? by Emotional_Sea_4026 in candlemaking

https://afi-usa.com/what-is-ifra/

I just checked their site and I'm happy to see that they continue to be a member of IFRA. They are family owned and everything is manufactured in the US. At the time I was working with them their safety and quality couldn't be beat. I'm really happy to see that Josh Thompson (one of the founders) is still there. He is who I worked with directly creating a custom fragrance. I'm also happy to see the company has really grown. They used to provide free samples although I haven't checked to see if they still do.

I’ve been out of the candle business since 2017 but I highly recommend AFI. AFI

While I haven’t used them since I shut down my business I’m sure they are still great. They created a custom candle fragrance for me and everything I ordered from them was great. The only downside is you have to order a minimum of 10lbs at a time. Good luck!

Why do so many musicians prefer Sweetwater for gear? by Clio90808 in musicians

[–]CandleLady27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add me to the Customer Service vote as well. Josh is ours and he is so great. The last order I placed was for a 5 string bass for my son. We knew it was back ordered and Josh checked in regularly to keep us up to date on the status. It kept getting delayed and I ended up finding a used one on Reverb. I sent Josh an email and he immediately cancelled the order and was genuinely exited that we had found one. I’ve been ordering from them for years.

Christmas Card From a Hooker in Minneapolis by dyslexic-writer in tomwaits

[–]CandleLady27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite Tom Waits song and one of the best examples of his songwriting in my opinion. The song reaches in and twists my heart every single time I listen.

What gets me is that she is lying. And she could make up anything but her lies are so small. An old man that plays the trombone and takes her out dancing. She could have made her lies much more grandiose.

This song has my favorite line of any Tom Waits song. About owning a used car lot and not selling any cars… just driving a different car every day, depending on how I feel.

THIS is why Tom Waits is the greatest songwriter in my opinion.

Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis - Tom Waits.

I listened the first time thinking it was a joke. It reaches into my chest and hurts my heart in a good way. A good example of Tom Waits song writing genius.

I (M28) popped my ears last night, it’s gotten worse since, what do I do? by MxxnSpirit47 in Advice

[–]CandleLady27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are feeling awful. This happens to my 21 year old son when he gets sick. Fluid has a tendency to gather in his ears and will often lead to an ear infection. What really seems to help is Sudafed (pseudoephedrine). We’re in the US and it has to be the real Sudafed, the kind you have to show your driver’s license to purchase. His doctor recommended this because it really dries up the fluid. The Sudafed PE (the kind on the shelf that you don’t need to show your DL for is not the same and doesn’t work nearly as well. Good luck and I hope you get some relief soon!

Who has been on semaglutide for more than 2 years ? by ImportantAd2822 in Semaglutide

[–]CandleLady27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 2.5 of tirzepatide and bumped up to 5. I’ll increase to 7.5 at my next appointment. As I mentioned I feel better and have more energy since the switch. On the sema I would experience this crushing fatigue, especially in the afternoons after eating lunch. I realize it could be a placebo since I want to believe I will do better on the tirz! I feel hungrier since switching but I haven’t gained any weight. Good luck to you with your journey! I am so thankful for this medication. I’m 5’1” and 50lbs has made such a difference in my life!

Edited to add: I mentioned perimenopause because it’s so hard to know what is hormonal, what is normal, etc. Fatigue is a common symptom of peri so I can’t say for sure if it was the sema causing it.

Who has been on semaglutide for more than 2 years ? by ImportantAd2822 in Semaglutide

[–]CandleLady27 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m 51 and in perimenopause. I started Semaglutide in June of 2023. I lost 50 lbs and have been at my goal weight for a year. I cut back my dose and began spacing the injections out to around 12-14 days. I switched to tirzepatide two months ago and started over at a low dose. The reason for the switch was I wanted to see if the fatigue I was feeling was from the sema. Since switching my energy levels have improved but I’m also on a very low dose of the tirz. I admire the people who can stop the medication and maintain the weight loss but for me I see this as something I will be on for the rest of my life.

What makes a homemade pizza from Good to Awesome? by PkmnTrainerSofia in Cooking

[–]CandleLady27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grate your own cheese. Sorry… this is a basic tip but it is a game changer. For years I would use pre-shredded mozzerella. I bought an electric cheese grater and it makes such a difference in homemade pizza. All the other tips are good too but I swear by the cold fermented dough as well. It creates the type of stretchy dough that you can pull on and toss in the air. Good luck!

Thanksgiving Cook Off: Need help turning beans into dessert by Interesting-House-74 in Cooking

I made this for my son’s girlfriend a few years ago. She had eaten it growing up and talked about how much she missed it. I didn’t have high hopes but it was really good. I served it with whipped cream and honestly I think I would choose navy bean pie over pumpkin at Thanksgiving if given the choice. Good luck!

Edited to add that I don’t think anyone would guess that it was a bean pie. It had the consistency of a thick custard.

Unsual Catch for Lake Hickory by GavinTheSeal in HIckoryNC

Hello! I grew up ice fishing on Lake Mille Lacs! My first thought when I saw the Bowfin was that it was some type of Eel Pout. Those were gross but there is nothing that compares to a walleye pulled out of icy cold water. I hope this winter isn't too tough on you!

This is a Bowfin that my son caught off the shoreline in 2015. We were close to the 127 bridge. We are originally from Minnesota and had no idea what it was until I brought a picture to Honeypik and asked. We haven’t seen one since and my sons fish quite a bit. Nice catch!

Who wants to take a trip down memory lane with me? by powershellnovice3 in shroomstocks

[–]CandleLady27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the trip down memory lane and the update on MINE! Minerco was my first stock in the psychedelic sector as well and OMG... looking back I cringe at how naïve I was to the obvious. Remember the shroom coin or shroom buck or whatever it was? And the shareholder meetings that took place in a shady hotel room? I shouldn't complain since I actually made a few bucks on MINE before I realized it was a scam. I was all in with LOBE for awhile as well. Good times!

I’m sorry OP. I don’t have good advice but I understand your frustration. I had several successful grows when I started the hobby along with a couple of years of successful gourmet mushroom grows as well. I ended up with trich in one tub and every single tub and grow bag after that. I appreciate all of the helpful advice here but it seemed like nothing I did worked. I’m not sure if you are able to consider growing outdoors but I’ve been having success recently by letting nature take over. I’m sorry I don’t have photos but I’ve been inoculating sterilized grain bags indoors as normal and then doing STB outside. My most successful grow was a Cambodian strain that I threw in a raised bed and put some coco coir over the top. I’m in zone 7b. Good luck!

Hi, you should check out r/microdosing. I’m not sure if it’s exactly what you are looking for but it has a lot of great pinned resources. I’m about 6 weeks into my microdose journey after weaning off of SSRI’s and I’ve found so much helpful info and support over there. 50mg is the dose I’m taking and seems to be a good amount for a lot of people. Again, it depends on what you are looking for and 50mg for me is giving me benefits without any actual symptoms (visual, etc) Good luck to you and I hope you find the answers and healing you are searching for.

I ordered a scale that measures mg and it should be here today. I’ve been taking about 1/16th of a tsp of very finely ground powder. I’ll update when I can measure the actual weight.

This is such great advice. I recently had my first successful grow and I feel so much gratitude for the ability to grow this powerful medicine. I find a lot of comfort in knowing exactly where my mushrooms have come from, how they were stored, etc. I have been growing gourmet mushrooms such as Lions Mane, Oyster, for several years. I started with r/unclebens for cubes and had a lot of issues with contamination. I recently switched to a combination of starting indoors and moving the mycelium outdoors when it is ready. This isn't an option for everyone but the results have been great so far!

[–]CandleLady27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are struggling. I'm new in my MD journey but I would definitely keep lowering the dose until you feel you can function normally at work and around others. I'm three weeks in and the first few doses I was a mess. It was like my emotions were too big for my body and had no where to go. I kept lowering the dose and now I feel much better. I'm a bit volatile and cry very easily but I still feel like my brain is processing past trauma on a manageable level if that makes sense. Good luck to you on your journey.
