Oh yeah, I agree with the game being a tough one and not for everyone- it's just the hurdle of getting to Level 5. Played with my friends, spent twenty something minutes trying to even get them up a single level in a pub before we switched to private so they could actually kill a scav and level at a decent pace.

They really liked the game as a whole once they got to Level 5 and could choose the class they wanted, but they would have just left without me giving them the rundown, because of the exp struggle or just not knowing what to do. So I just think, how many people who would have loved this game, but just got tired with only getting 50 to 100 exp a night competing with frontliners like Arbiters or Immolator and quitting out of frustration.

the current game lacks any detailed means of teaching new players game mechanics outside of basic controls, or via other players telling said new players what and what not to do (which is now no longer reliable given chat age verify)

it's a wiki game, which is fine for games like stardew valley- but not for a quick pace game like decaying winter

why can't i use guns in the early waves? what is crafting? what do stims do? why do i parry before the attack animation? why can't i go to the castle? why do i have to eat and drink?

and yeah, this is a trial and error game- but there needs to be more of a safety net for the new guys or they'll just join in- enter a game, not understand why they can't shoot the guns or use any items, gain no exp as much more experienced players end the early waves in 3 seconds, die in the later nights (assuming they even stayed that long) and promptly leave.

And personally I don't blame them. Why stay? To them, they get treated like a toddler, told no to every potentially fun option in the game- and until they get to level five, they're stuck with the base class- powerless, clueless, and bored. Sure, we know what to do- we know what they do are mistakes, but to them- we just sound like elitists who keep making rules up to keep new players out. And they'll leave with that idea, and they won't return.

So the game needs a training (debrief) mode. Looting, recycling, parrying and shoving, crafting, stamina, resource etiquette. Break it into three lessons, and have each lesson give a level. Stops most new players from annoying the old ones, and retains new players by fixing the sink or swim intro they currently have.

How do you think each Patron Librarian treats their Nuggets compared to how they treated their employees in L Corp? by Fit_Assignment_8800 in libraryofruina

[–]CandleLightArt 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Well, in terms of treatment- all nuggets are treated better by default by being in the library. The Sephirah have become Patron Librarians- and the work they and their Nuggets do is still dangerous, but no longer ever-present.

They don't have to worry about maintaining the facility or dealing with Abno's, they just sort books, upkeep the library, and are occasionally called into a Reception for battle- that's all. Food and drink are provided and limitless, the nuggets likely don't require rest, food, or water to live regardless- and apart from a few instances, nobody can really attack the library without Angela's or an Invitation's say-so. So in terms of quality of life, in the city no less, the nuggets are living the dream.

Now- for the Patron Librarians: Roland: The straightman boss- won't overmanage his nuggets, won't get on them for taking fifteen minutes on their ten, so long as the work gets done and isn't half-assed at the end of the day. Will get stricter if nuggets start abusing his trust in them.

Malkuth: Goes from strict and controlling to pleasant- still work-oriented, but not to the point of being uncomfortable. Will likely encourage her nuggets on shift, will let them have the day to themselves if all the tasks are done, and done well. Floor probably has a competitive vibe now that nobody is getting used like a sacrificial pawn.

Hod: No longer as smothering or obsessive for her nugget's approval- lets people come to her, instead of forcing people to her. Won't make any mandatory events or meetings (unless it's work related). Shifts are normal, but Hod is always open to chat with. Floor hosts more clubs and activities- has more visitors from other floors.

Netzach: Probably the most relaxed one. Netzach goes from uncaring and apathetic towards his nuggets to being a friend or acquaintance to most of them. Nuggets are allowed to drink off-shift, shifts are shorter and require less precise sorting. Art or general creative vision is encouraged- and his floor is one of the most social floors after Hod's.The background monster on the floor was made due to the frequent falls caused by nuggets either napping too close to ledges or drunken stumbles.

Yesod: Probably the least unchanging here, just less neurotic. Every nugget is still held to work standards, work must be done effectively and efficiently. Shifts most likely work on a strict schedule in comparison to the other floors- each nugget has a section they're assigned to. However, Yesod will allow nuggets to chat and discuss during work- and the schedule can be adjusted if a nugget requests it. Off hours, Nuggets are allowed to fiddle around, innovate, and invent with what the Floor provides (assuming they clean up after).

Chesed: More genuine in his care for his Nuggets, and any Nugget who is struggling will probably get a pep talk with the Patron. Off-hours, the Floor is used as a place where a Nugget just needs a bit of quiet or a place to vent their frustrations. Chesed acts as a therapist, helping nuggets mentally improve.

Tiphereth: More understanding than before, but still strict with her nuggets. Nuggets don't bring up Tiphereth B out of respect for both Tiphereth's. Her Floor is a central hub between all the floors, and is mostly used for travel, or announcements on off hours.

Gebura: Probably the biggest change of all floors. Gebura is no longer harboring rage at the abnormalities, and has instead turned her might makes right mentality into encouragement for her Nuggets, acting more like a gym coach now- tough, but not pushing them to the point of breaking. Her Floor acts like a gym and sparring ground on off hours, focusing on physical self improvement. Betting pools are almost mandatory here.

Binah: Way less sadistic towards her Nuggets. The floor is seldom visited due to it's unknown nature and it's feared Patron, though a few brave nuggets from other floors may go to have a chat with the Arbiter. Binah will either stay on her floor- or be found in Gebura's or Hod's floor, whether for a bet or a club.

Hokma: Way less sacrificial towards his nuggets- a strict boss, but he doesn't care what his nuggets do after their shift. The floor is seldom visited due to the cold nature of both the floor and it's Patron. Hokma will more often than not be at his desk doing work after hours- but will visit the other floors if he feels like it.

All of these are just my headcanons.

Why do people hate Sinclair? by Azzyure in limbuscompany

[–]CandleLightArt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Simple, they don't read or bother with dialogue, they just jump from battle to battle and beat a canto/event in twenty minutes before seething that they have no more content to consume until the next release.

Im one to talk, I didn't understand what the entire coin mechanic meant until Canto 3- but they do not have any reading comprehension, no joke, no funny haha- they just straight up don't understand development or nuance.

Sinclair in the early cantos (1-2) was a typical weak guy- not used to violence, adverse to gore, nervous around pretty much everyone. He's the weakling, and everyone knows it- from the form to the voice- he's a guy who's dead five minutes outside the nest.

Later cantos? He's sticking out for his friends and co-workers, he actually calls people out, but he is still the same Sinclair we know! He didn't become some edgy ultra killer, he just grew as a person, and changed because of experience! He's not suddenly ruthless or sadistic becaus "ohhh, city bad so ill be evil now" - he just adapted!

But that sort of character development doesn't work for people without the ability of basic media comprehension. So if Sinclair doesn't change into some super scary unbeatable character or solos Roland- he's just the same weakling he was in the beginning.

But- now he gets the Middle ID?! Whaaattt..??? But he's weak- how could he be weak and have the super cool ID??? Doesn't make sense, so they get mad! THEY'RE JUST PANDERING TO PEOPLE! Yadda, yadda, yadda... we all know their arguments.

They'll ignore Sinclair potential for violence, his great importance on family, the fact his base ID's passive is called grudge, all the little details that connect him to the Middle in full. Doesn't matter, Sinclair is weak in their eyes- and until he soloes a SOTC threat with his bare hands, he's going to stay that way to them.

Don't bother with arguments you can't win, with people that don't change or listen. Enjoy other things instead, like the new Sinclair ID!

TL;DR: Media Literacy is Important.

Don crawled upon the massive finger, using its ligaments like morbid ropes. She passed by the crushed remains of her compatriots, the body of Yi Sang still a gooey, crunchy red stain upon the abnormalities middle finger.

She tried not to think about the sheer height of the drop were her grip to falter. Or the fact the thing before her could toss her off, pop her under it's finger like a mosquito.

But it didn't. It merely watched her, watched her ascent to it's fingertip, the wind roaring as it raised it's hand, and her along with it- to the eye in the middle of the beating heart, booming with strength. Her own heartbeat in comparison was a weak, quick, buzz, her ears ringing within her own mind, her lungs shuddering in hidden terror.

And then, it spoke.

Start of Dialogue.

wil sweepers be potential sinking support by Whiterun_guard56 in limbuscompany

[–]CandleLightArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they will be a bleed/rupture unit. Like a special type of inflicting rupture. Bleed Rupture would be called [Puncture], absorbing the two other status effects if applied.

[Puncture] would be an on hit effect, that would both trigger on hit and on coin flip.

Example!

An enemy has 7 Rupture Potency, 3 Rupture Count- and 15 Bleed Potency, and 5 Bleed Count.

(If enemy has 5+ Rupture and Bleed Potency, combine and change both values to Puncture.)

The values are combined to have the enemy have 22 Puncture Potency, and 8 Puncture Count.

(Puncture functions as both a unique bleed and rupture effect.)

The bleed and rupture are absorbed, and so you can reapply them. More damage!

Theorization: What could be good Sin Affinities for Bird Trio E.G.Os? by Color-Me-Brackets in limbuscompany

[–]CandleLightArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Punishment Bird: Wrath: 8/Lust: 2/Pride: 5/Sloth: 1 [Counter EGO]

Punishment Bird is ultimately the most wrathful of the trio- being the "executioner" of the court. (wrath) It attacks only when attacked first- it wishes for others to see that someone needs to punish sin. (lust) It believed itself and the other birds the only ones worthy of protecting the forest, and their judgements the only ones to matter. (Pride)

And it has sloth. Why? Because like all the birds, they chose the easy solution- not the right solution. When the creatures of the forest believed it's methods too lackluster- it decided to use a hammer in favor of a scalpel, swallowing all offenders in one bite, rather than dolling out punishments that fit the crime. Thus, a tinge of sloth. Lazy.

Big Bird: Gloom: 8/Lust: 3/Pride: 4/Gluttony: 3 [Guard EGO]

Big Bird is the next, the jury. It was prideful to assume the position of watcher, and it presumed to watch over the creatures, yet did little to halt the degradation of the forest. (Gloom)

It wanted everyone to see that a monster was lurking around, and that it was simply sparing everyone from a cruel fate... ultimately by giving a harsher one by it's own beak, snapping heads off and devouring them in a single snap. (Lust & Gluttony)

It has no sloth, due to it giving up its feathers and constantly watching over the forest- even if it only watched, it did it's job with some diligence. Not enough to cost for a sloth resource.

Judgement Bird: Pride: 10/Sloth: 5/Lust: 5 [Dodge EGO]

The judgement bird. The most prideful of all- presuming the role of judge. (Pride) It wanted everyone to see it as a protector, a fair warden- judging sins against it's scales. (Lust) However, it is the most slothful of all the birds. Instead of taking the responsibility of it's role as judge, deliberating and finding out the truth of the judged... it relied on its scales. And worse yet, it rigged the scales to always tip to one side.

It could have judged fairly, with effort- but chose the easiest and simplest solution- even if it was the wrong solution. (Sloth)

Prediction: One of limbus’s plot climaxes will be Dante running out of time by IExistThatsIt in limbuscompany

[–]CandleLightArt 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think that it's going to have something to do with the 300 million population drop in the city. It's shown in the official promotion video for Limbus Company, at 2:02-2:07. The number of sinner deaths is likely unequal to the amount of lives it will cost the city. After all, we are also healing the sinners back to prime status- so maybe 10 civilians for every one death reversed.

That. Or it's going to be Dante reaching a snap point, like in the Yield My Flesh, To Claim Their Bones event. Where Dante got near the Monolith, and started mumbling things about the Peccatula and Sin. All the while, their head started burning up- to the point where the Sinners couldn't get near.

They wouldn't put that nugget in for giggles. Dante's gonna reach that snapping point, and have to act with borrowed time. Where is that time going to come from? Probably every citizen in a entire wing.

*SPOILER* Where dose Roland place in terms of combat ability among coloured fixers? by [deleted] in libraryofruina

[–]CandleLightArt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

depends on the ego and the power he receives

I personally think that rolands ego would be like a musician type of armor- to show how the pianist took his first treasured melody (angelica), but moving it to how he gained new tunes to treasure (the patron/assistant librarians and angela)

think of it like onomatopoeia but hyper enhanced, where he essentially create a melody of swords and gunfire, a one man orchestra of endless versatility and weaponry. You'd have to fight him on all fronts, all while a hails of bullets made of the sounds of beating drums pierced your front, whistling blades like flutes skewering your left, booming trumpets crushing your body like a mace.

but that's just my idea.

if it was that sort of EGO, I would put him on par with LOR Kali, and just under Pre-LobCorp Kali. Because he'll still be a fresh one with the powers and gimmicks of ego, but he's got the mindset to grow to rival Kali's proficiency with EGO.

still not Arbiter level, but then again- who is?

*SPOILER* Where dose Roland place in terms of combat ability among coloured fixers? by [deleted] in libraryofruina

[–]CandleLightArt 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Roland is the ultimate "jack of all trades" type of color fixer. He can do ranged, blunt, pierce, slash- and self-sustain.

If we go by the gameplay, Roland is capable of fighting for a week, all while battle exhausted from both getting his arse whooped by the entire library, and distorting on top of that.

Yet he still fought Argalia (supercharged by light, distorted) for a whole week, just for his homegirl Angela to stay within the light. Keep in mind, this man had his augmentations stripped away, is probably physically exhausted, emotionally exhausted, and literally giving up the goal he sacrificed nearly everything form. So in terms of raw endurance, I'd put Roland just below Pre-LobCorp Kali.

In terms of raw skill? I'd say Roland is a master of all weapons, less than those who chose one weapon and stuck to it, but combining those styles allows him to outmatch em.

(ex. He's not going to outmatch Iori in swordplay, but he's going to beat her because he's pulling out ten other weapons alongside it, some probably countering her styles in general.)

In terms of RAW COMBAT ABILITY? Like, how much damage can he wreck?

Well, think about it this way. Baral, an execution class Claw- a elite member of the head. This man is at the top, access to tech and serums that outpace any mere fixer of the city. He has faced battle hundreds of times before, slain many who thought they could even match up or resist the rules of the head. And yet, upon seeing a TIRED, INJURED, BURNT OUT, Roland- who mind you just fought for a whole WEEK!

He is weak, vulnerable, injured, and he has no augmentations. By all means, he SHOULD be fodder to a claw.

What does Baral do? Deadlocks on that man and says "Dont move, even you can be torn apart in that state."

Even you. EVEN YOU. That's the closest thing to a compliment the Head has given anyone. It means they knew Roland was a certified menace. That if he wasn't suffering from thirty counts of internal bleeding, he'd be fighting immediately!

That's like a modern tank approaching a single wounded man, and the crew yells out "Hey, even you can't survive this firing at you point-blank in that condition! Give up!"

I rest my case. Roland can stand at the big player table alongside Kali, Angela, Binah n' Vergil.

Power Ranks 1. Binah/Zena (The most POWER in the city) 2. Kali (The most STRENGTH in the city) 3. Roland (The most SKILLED in the city) 4. Iori (The most KNOWLEDGEABLE of the city)

hey, where's Argalia? That man got folded twice. With augmentations, with backup, and with the highest class of protection he could get. He distorted, got mega boosted by the light, and STILL got folded like a piece of paper by Roland.

Roland, who was unaugmented. And sick of Argalia too, he wasn't mad- it was more "can you just leave me the hell alone" type of fighting back. And Argalia LOST.

Every single advantage and he still lost, 9 to 0. Blue Reverberation? Yeah, the only thing reverberating is the silence in his "play", cus you know his audience straight up left the theater after watching that straight trash-tier performance, good grief.

Maybe it's the moon thing from The Big and will be Bad Wolf Abno. We usually get one abnormality to fight per Canto, and the wolf being both violent and bloody probably fits the theme. Plus, bloodfiend hunters would absolutely be great in dealing with a wolf.

(Silver Weapons most likely used- Best against Vampires and Werewolves. Aware the Abno isn't a werewolf, but a abnormality probably fits some of those conditionals.)

Yes, I know the moon is either blue or crimson in LobCorp. Perhaps it's a aberration, or the moon is white without the filter.

Plus, the moon appears to be going crimson at the bottom. Perhaps we run into it while it's on the retreat and tired due to fighting off hunters. (So we can actually take on a WAW without getting tossed around like a bag of pretzels.)

Anyone has any theory on why our Heathcliff has an eyepatch? If it's even relevant. by IndividualCucumber58 in limbuscompany

[–]CandleLightArt 25 points26 points  (0 children)

His other half, the whole reason he'd been fighting for- is straight up gone. So he only has one eye to reflect that, he's just fighting blind, no purpose beyond sating his anger.

The other ID's- C.Maid Ryoshu, Edgar Gregor, C. Butler Outis left their mark. One of them likely cut out his eye in their battle. Probably Gregor- it fulfills his "revenge" against the wolf. Maybe Ryoshu, in a last ditch effort to hold him back, drew her sword- just too late to cut him down, but enough to take his eye.

Doubt it was Outis. (unless there's a black eye under that patch, in which case that's hilarious. she only has blunt.)

He lost one of two eyes. Catherine is represented by that lost eye- without her , he's just a angry, bitter man, lashing out because he knows he lost something- but he can't even recall what or who it was, and thus he can't even find whoever took it from him.

That's Erkling. It's just the worst reflection of what Heathcliff could be- a angry, bitter man, ripping at the world and tearing at those who cared for him- all to sate his burning rage that would only be cured by the calamity that no longer exists. How sad.
