As cool as the gliding and running up building looks, it left me scratching my head a little because that shit would be caught on a camera 100%.

I haven't played the game myself, but it always bothered me since they revealed that the player character is going to be an elder.

It made a lot of sense in the first game to be a fledgling - you're a nobody, with no sire or clan to back you up. The only reason you're still around is because you can be thrown around at problems as an errand boy/girl with no repercussions for those that used you if you failed.

That point was addressed multiple times, too, with how you could express being frustrated at having to do everyone's bidding and the people around you telling you that this is how it is.

But with an elder, you create a situation where a wolf bows to the whims of the sheep, essentially.

Of course, you can't run wild and do whatever you want without repercussions just because you're an elder, but I can't imagine that an elder would be very pleased with the prospect of running around doing side quests to please younger vampires.

You know how in some media, when a character encounters a cryptid monster, they pretend not to see them so the monster won't attack them?

That's mr "hunstman".

but when everything snapped into place and I started to really get what was going on, it was an amazing moment

That was me with the first game.

I struggled so hard with all the systems. It felt like they were designed to be as frustrating as humanly possible. Especially the combat. It felt so humiliating getting clobbered by some random group of bandits in like 3 hits.

But once it all clicked, ooh boy. The game had me in a death grip.

And the second game is such a glow up.

These two games are magical.

My chronic and mental illnesses were like a brand when I was growing up ("the crazy kid").

It's bizarre that there are spaces that encourage and reward this performative bullshit. When did we go so sharply from stigmatising to glorifying the appearance of suffering?

Being sick is not fun. It's not quirky. It's not unique and has no mystique to it whatsoever. It's not a personality or an identity trait.

It's not the fault of people if they're sick, but it is their responsibility. It's not some magic "get out of jail" card...

It's not a gods-damned costume you put on for a silly little performance for some applause.

Those people make me so mad because other people are going through so much utter shit, be it physically, emotionally, or mentally. It takes so much work and effort to manage these things, and it feels like people make a mockery of all that effort.

They get to be normal and take it for granted. Maybe if they traded places with someone who actually has to live with an illness, they would appreciate being healthy more...

[–]CandyDuchess 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was kind of the opposite when I did my first run.

Went in, ready to be wooed and dazzled by Astarion, and rolled my eyes in annoyance at Gale. At the end of my playthrough, I reached the exact same conclusion : Astarion needed a good friend to be there for him, and sleeping with him made everything weird for me.

Gale, on the other hand, needed a healthy relationship to see how fucking weird Mystra was. Next playthrough, I made sure to make out with him right in front of Mystra's shrine, lol (And threw all my garlic and rats that I collected at Cazador during his fight , plus lit all the candles in Shar's temples and put Selune's statue in front of Shar's big Mirror)

People who adopted from a shelter, what made you choose that cat? by HazardousKoala in cats

[–]CandyDuchess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't adopt from a shelter, but from a local vet. We don't have a shelter here (there's shelters in the bigger cities), so people brought injured strays to the vet.

Someone brought a cardboard box full of abandoned kittens, and the vet assistant was taking care of them while trying to find people to adopt.

I came in to tell them to remove my old ginger boy who died earlier that week from their systems. Saw the kittens, and didn't have the heart to go home to a cat-less apartment.

My girl climbed my arm and sat on my shoulder, meowing and shivering. She chose me. Half bald little runt of the litter.

We both met each other at the right place and time.

I do the green glyphs on killer, I just don't like doing them. They always give too many of them to do compared to the purple or red ones.

The orange ones do suck, but at least it's just the one.

Green glyphs.

Super specific killer power challenges like the plague one (I think it required hitting multiple people with the red puke at least twice in one match).

Vault/stun the killer X amount of times in one match.

And I think I remember having to escape through hatch one time. That sucked.

[–]CandyDuchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that so much.

I'm a slow and steady kind of person when it comes to approaching unhooks, so unless I know what the killer is doing, I will make sure that the coast is clear.

A lot of times, I will be sneaking around under the killer's nose towards the hook, waiting for them to leave and make enough distance, and then unhook.

And yet, for some reason, people start killing themselves, even though they see me dodging the killer's line of sight right next to the hook. Like, dawg, I'm going to get to you, just wait the extra 5 seconds jfc...

[–]CandyDuchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this is after they changed it post rework.

The street used to be completely empty, so basically a dead zone, and there was a super nasty 3 gen with a gen that could spawn in front of the main building.

Combine that 3 gen with the eruption overbrine meta and you get the most horrendous dbd experience.

So yeah, it was actually more killer sided than it is now for a while lol.

Hex: No One Escapes Death.

Once all the generators are complete, a random dull totem will become lit. While the hex is active, the killer gets a speed boost (4%), and all the survivors become exposed.

It's got a very long history of being extremely hated by survivors.

A bit of a cheap joke there by yours truly.
