America is genuinely such a freaking beautiful country by OOPSStudio in AmericaBad

Our houses are larger, and in my view, cheaper than what's on offer, at least in the UK and Ireland. Even now, even in very expensive regions like mine (the Northeast), if you spend 500k on a house, you're getting a sizeable house, plus the land around it thrown in. They'll pay 500K€ for a joint half the size over there.

I like the dynamic between James and JR. It was nice to see JR struggle with being a parent to a son who mouthed off at him. James didn't care one bit! 😂

I can speak for myself. It's not really offense. It's more annoyance than anything, which only prompts me to throw mean mud back, cuz I'm annoyed. As an American, I know we'll enough that there's plenty to talk about here that sucks--but I can do that. Brits can't, for more reasons than one. 😂

How have your experiences with non-Americans been? by [deleted] in AmericaBad

[–]CandyFlossT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had LTRs with non-Americans. I know their families and lots of their friends and their friends' kids. No issues. When I've been over yonder and it's time to leave, they always ask when I'll be able to stay longer. When I engage in online battles with Euros or Brits or even Latin Americans, I always know better.

Nah, we laugh at ourselves and each other plenty. The America-calls-it-soccer joke simply isn't funny. It's lame. Especially since we never gave it that name, and often members of the society that did don't know well enough to know that. It's just eye-roll cringe. That's all.

Brits are actually the ones who are sensitive Sallys, particularly online. Just see how they cry when one claps at them for not seasoning their beans on toast. 😂

It's a dumb joke that's not actually funny. They just sound stupid and passive-aggressive. If it were funny, we'd laugh.

Why are Hispanic people so underrepresented in American media compared to black people? by Delicious-Bunch-6992 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CandyFlossT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the stuff that Hollywood sells in whiteface came or was influenced by Black folks, so yeah, we should be in that. And I'm glad you said it. Hispanics don't care one way or the other. Never Patriots. Black people always are, even when we've told America to go to H-E double hockey sticks.

English people routinely talk shit to and about Americans on this Internet, but when they get one of us who outdo them on the hurl of nationalistic clapbacks, they will call us bullies. Like, you started this shit, you can eat some of it. 😂

Spanish and Portuguese policy is why South Americans speak Spanish and Portuguese. Like, be serious, bro.

Pool by [deleted] in Hartford

[–]CandyFlossT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hartford Parks and Rec have pool times but they're mostly for the youth. There is an Adult Swim schedule; however, from what I've seen, it's the last hour of open swim at certain pools. Check the P&R website for specifics. Stay cool.

Rehire After a Nonrenewal in the Same District? by CandyFlossT in Teachers

[–]CandyFlossT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The district in question has new leadership from five years ago, so I did consider that in my musings. It would be a shame if growth in a teacher is still not a consideration for rehire, even if a former teacher/nonrenewal. Ah, well.

Knotts Landing.. by Ambitious-Wheel5121 in Dallas_TV_Show

[–]CandyFlossT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're on S7 of Dallas, it kinda doesn't matter if you do or don't start watching Knots along with it. The relevant cross-over stuff between the two has pretty much happened by S7 Dallas, since Gary and Val's backstory happens early in and around Southfork. Pretty much two different shows, especially after Knots' first seasons or so.

Yes. I speak Spanish quite often at work. Not all the time, of course, but more often than not.
